The studio behind The Last of Us has released a statement to fans after being absent at PlayStation’s big dance.
Following a lacklustre first-party showing, gamers were left asking the question ‘Where is the Last of Us multiplayer game?’, or anything from one of PlayStation’s most beloved studios.
Many were left disappointed after the showcase, having not seen anything from Naughty Dog, Santa Monica Studios, Bend, Bluepoint… The list goes on.

We did get a brief look at Bungie, Firewalk and Haven’s new IPs, but thank the gamer gods for Insomniac Games and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
At last year’s Summer Games Fest with Geoff Keighley, The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann told fans to expect more from the multiplayer title in 2023.
In a statement released online today, Naughty Dog confirms they’re still hard at work on The Last of Us multiplayer game, as well as revealing they’re working on a “brand new single-player experience”.

Naughty Dog says what’s best for their multiplayer game is “to give it more time.”
And if we’ve learned anything over the past 12 months, it’s that when a studio says a game needs more time we should all listen.
