Video games releasing in October 2026

October is bursting at the seams with good games — we’ve got podracing, locust squashing, epic kung fu action, and so much more. I can already hear my wallet complaining.

Here are our most anticipated games releasing in October 2026:

Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition

A year on from the release of one of 2025’s best games, Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition is set to take us back to Ezo. Included is the new DLC, Echoes of Sekigahara that flashbacks to Atsu’s time on mainland Japan. Split between the past and the present, the expansion brings new weapons, armour sets, and dyes.

Also included is Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted, a new single-player mode that takes that fantastic combat from the main game and spins it into a survival roguelike. Each run sees you hunting a different member of the Yōtei Six, taking on waves of enemies and mini-bosses, and strengthening your character with perks. Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato, and even Jin Sakai himself from Ghost of Tsushima will be playable, each with their own unique weapons and fighting styles.

Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition is out on October 2nd for PlayStation 5. There’s also an upgrade path for those who already have the base game.

STAR WARS: Galactic Racer

High-octane racing has never looked better than in STAR WARS: Galactic Racer. Set in the lawless Outer Rim, you’ll make a name for yourself in the Galactic League, an underground racing circuit bankrolled by crime syndicates.

Podracers, speeder bikes, landspeeders, and more await your piloting skills; each with their own quirks, perks, and physics. With a solo story campaign and PvP grudge matches, outrace your rivals and leave them in your dust, or shunt them off the track in a fiery wreck.

As a young Darth Vader once said, “Now this is pod racing!”

STAR WARS: Galactic Racer skids onto PlayStation 5, PC, and XBOX Series X|S on October 6th.

Gears of War: E-Day

Gears of War: E-Day takes Gears fans back to where it all began, telling the story of Emergence Day, the catastrophic attack on humanity by the subterranean Locust Horde. Follow Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, though action-packed, grub-squashing, third-person shooter action.

Squad up or run solo through the origin story campaign, co-op survival Horde Siege mode, and 4v4 versus PvP. New additions bolster a line-up of reimagined enemies and weapons, while controls have been modernised to bring more freedom and verticality to movement.

Gears of War: E-Day hits Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 7th.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse puts you in the shoes of Rose Belmont — daughter of Trevor Belmont — as she fights to save 15th century Paris from a monstrous attack. Dripping with Gothic aesthetics and a vibrant colour palette, the Metroidvania series has never looked so good. Developed by Evil Empire — Dead Cells, The Rogue Prince of Persia — it’s a safe bet the traversal is going to feel buttery smooth too.

With whip in hand, Rose can dodge and swing past deadly traps, while laying the beat down on even deadlier enemies and bosses. She has seven different categories of weapons to fight with, along with powerful relics, and magical tarot cards from defeated bosses.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse comes to PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S on October 15th.

Final Fantasy Resonance

An expansive fantasy world, crystal centric story, turn-based combat, pixel-art graphics, airships, espers, chocobos, magitek… This is quintessential Final Fantasy for the modern era! Final Fantasy Resonance is a from-the-ground reimagining of mobile game Brave Exvius, rebuilt for consoles. Focusing on the single player story, the game removes the free-to-play gacha system entirely, taking a more classic approach to gameplay.

Playing through the demo, the JRPG captures the essence of early Final Fantasy games and modernises it with features like voice acting, fast travel, and a tactical stagger system. It’s also the first game in the FF series to be given the HD-2D treatment and it looks phenomenal. A stand-out feature of Resonance is the ability to call on ‘Visions’ to aid you in battle; heroes from other realms such as Cloud Strife, Squall Leonhart, and Terra Branford.

Final Fantasy Resonance launches onto PC and consoles on October 23rd. Be sure to check out our review in the coming weeks.

Phantom Blade Zero

With jaw-dropping Kung fu action, wicked enemy design, and a dark fantasy Chinese setting; Phantom Blade Zero has been one of our most anticipated games for a while now. You play as Soul, an elite assassin framed for the murder of his master. With only 66 days left to live, the clock is ticking to clear your name and get revenge.

Combat looks like a frenzy of lightning-fast fight choreography, that would stand shoulder to shoulder with legendary martial arts movies. The action RPG pits you against unique foes like drunken masters, assassins on sword-stilts, and fire-breathing lion dancers. And after defeating a boss, you can grab their weapon to wield for yourself, each with their own signature techniques and animations.

Phantom Blade Zero slices on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 29th.
