Microsoft introduces official Xbox Series X Console Wraps

If you were starting to get a little tired of your Xbox Series X’s blank void-like appearance, or simply didn’t feel like committing to personalising the console with a sticky vinyl and dreadful air bubbles, we bring you good news!

In a recent post from the official Xbox Twitter account, Microsoft announced that they will finally be releasing Xbox Series X console wraps in three styles. Launching with two camouflage colours, Arctic Camo and Mineral Camo as well as their first official game-themed wrap for Starfield.

When can we get our hands on the Xbox Wraps?

The wraps will release on the 18th of October in the US, Canada, and Europe and pre-orders are open now on the Microsoft store. However, there has been no information given on whether or not they will be released for Australian & New Zealand consumers.

Though there have been years of similar products going to market by external companies. Dbrand, for example, has been selling a wide variety of custom vinyl console skins and even released a wildly popular and limited series of skins inspired by Call of Duty’s Damascus weapon skin, which they have recently brought back. Not to mention the hundreds of other options for players available through other companies.

While the choices in console customisation seem quite broad already, Microsoft has followed in Sony’s footsteps in creating covers that are easily swapped out rather than worrying about that sticky vinyl. Microsoft has previously given away several custom game-themed Xbox Series X consoles, but this new move means that players can now begin to show their support for their favourite games or simply spruce up their gaming space as often as they like and with ease.

If you’re worried about potential problems with airflow, the wraps ensure that the console’s vents are all clear, and small feet were added to the bottom of the wraps so that air can flow freely through the console. The wraps are folded around the console and secured with a hook and loop enclosure. And a silicone design on the interior will ensure that the wrap is kept in place.

Though it’s unfortunate that it looks like the Xbox ANZ community may have to wait a little longer, it’s exciting that console personalisation is finally becoming more accessible to gamers in general and we can only hope that we’ll get the option to pre-order soon!
