The next chapter in the God of War franchise is almost here, with Sony Santa Monica confirming the release date for God of War Laufey during San Diego Comic-Con.
The upcoming PlayStation 5 title will launch in Australia on February 17, 2027, giving fans their first chance to step into the role of Laufey — also known as Faye.
Who is Laufey, or Faye?

Faye is the beloved wife of Kratos who (spoiler alert) is dead from the moment players launch into God of War (2018). That said, Faye played a major role in the recent God of War games, with flashbacks shaping Kratos’ journey.
In God of War Laufey, players will take control of Laufey in what appears to be a new perspective on the mythology explored in the previous games. There’s even speculation of Egyptian gods making an appearance!
Sony Santa Monica revealed the release date alongside details about the future of the franchise, confirming that the game will arrive on PS5 next February.
A game focused on continuing Kratos’ journey was also confirmed by studio head Cory Barlog, with Laufey seemingly setting everything up for the next major chapter in the story.

The studio has also confirmed that God of War Laufey will receive a physical disc release, following reports that Sony plans to end physical game production by 2028.
