Here’s our breakdown of the games to play in September.
Starfield
It’s arguably the biggest game to ever hit the Xbox Series X|S, Starfield boasts a huge galaxy full of planets and moons to explore. It’s penned as Skyrim in space, but from what we’ve discovered it’s so much more.
Starfield hits Game Pass on September 6th with early access starting today!

Baldur’s Gate 3
If you haven’t heard of Baldur’s Gate 3, then you must be living under a big ol’ rock! The CRPG launched on PC in early August to widespread acclaim, and it currently sitting on a 96/100 on both Metacritic and Opencritic. Now the PS5 version is just around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited to jump into the world and make some very bad decisions!
Look for it on September 6th; early access starts on the 2nd.
Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis
The OTHER Final Fantasy VII remake.
Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is promising to cover the entirety of the FFVII timeline, including the anthology of spin-off games we’ve got over the years; such as Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus and even the Advent Children film. There will also be new content involving a young Sephiroth and the origins of SOLDIER.

Ever Crisis will be an episodic, free to play mobile game with in-app purchases. Available on Android and iOS on September 7th.
NBA 2K24
It’s that time of year again, a new NBA 2K game is on the horizon. Every year the graphics just keep getting better, it’s actually a crazy how close they’re getting to looking like a real life ball game.
This year, NBA 2K24 is promising a new level of realism with it’s new ProPLAY tech; and more customisation with the new badge system for your MyPLAYER.
Grab your favourite NBA/WNBA team and go hoop with the latest and the greatest.
It launches September 8th on PC and consoles.
MythForce
This medieval fantasy rogue-like has a very retro, Saturday-morning cartoon aesthetic. The art style is reminiscent of 80s cartoons like ThunderCats and He-Man & Masters Of The Universe.

Choose a hero and crawl some dungeons, either solo or with up to three others.
With an 80s synth soundtrack and deliciously cheesy dialogue, this first-person melee-roguelike is looking like a pretty unique experience.
Mythforce is out on September 12th for consoles and PC.
Eternights
Blending adrenaline-driven combat with sim elements, Eternights is a hack ‘n’ slash dating game, set within a post-apocalyptic world.
You’ll have to choose how to spend your limited time each day, whether that be scavenging, dungeon crawling, training or dating!
With dungeons filled with fast-paced combat, traps, puzzles and even dancing minigames; you’ll need to dodge, parry and utilise all your skills to make it out in one piece.
When you’re not fighting for your life, you can spend quality time with your companions, unlocking unique skills and spells as you grow closer to them.
You can swipe right on Eternights on September 12th for PS4, PS5 and PC.
Mortal Kombat 1
Mortal Kombat is back and more gruesome than ever! MK1 will take place in a reborn universe created by ‘Fire God Liu Kang’, basically a soft reboot for the franchise.

The game promises a brand new story, new fighting system, game modes, and plenty of gory fatalities. I’m particularly interest in the new ‘Kameo‘ system, where another character can enter the battle to help you fight for a few seconds.
Mortal Kombat 1 is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 19th.
Lies of P
This dark retelling of the Pinocchio story, set within an action packed soulslike world, is ticking all the boxes for me!
In Lies of P, unearth a sinister plot as you battle your way through mobs of clock-work enemies and take on the most brutal of bosses!
I’m ready for some punishment on September 19th! On PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC — it will also launch Xbox Game Pass on day one.
Mineko’s Night Market
The gorgeous Mineko’s Night Market is a story-driven, whimsical adventure that celebrates Japanese food, culture and (most importantly) cats! Complete daily activities, whimsical quests and craft unique items in preparation for the weekly night market.
With a host of mini-games like themed parades, stage performances and CAT RACING; the night market sounds like the place to be! You can also barter with dozens of friendly townsfolk and sell almost anything you craft or find around the island.
Mineko’s Night Market launches on September 26th for PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC
Phantom Liberty is looking to essentially change what we know about Cyberpunk 2077. This spy thriller is a huge new expansion for the main game, offering players a new story, locations, characters and more. Developers CDProjektRED has said this will be the game’s only DLC.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is coming to consoles and PC on September 26th
EA Sports FC 24
It’s a big month for sports fans, the latest football game from EA to release at the end of the month. Similar to ProPLAY tech in NBA2K; EA has their own motion capture special sauce, HyperMotion V. Player animations are about to be turned up to 11!

It’s EA’s first football game since they unceremoniously parted ways with FIFA last year, only time will tell if fans will be back without the FIFA brand attached.
I’m sure after such an exciting Women’s World Cup last month, there’ll be a whole new generation of footballers excited to get their hands on the game.
EA Sports FC 24 launches September 29th on PC and consoles.
