As we plough on through the year, August brings plenty of Indie and AAA bangers to sink our teeth into.
Whether you’re travelling the wastes with your canine best friend, punching Dr. Doom in his metal face, or sending chivalrous knights to their potential doom, this month has you covered.
Here are our most anticipated games releasing in August 2026:
Beast of Reincarnation
Beast of Reincarnation is the latest foray away from Pikachu and friends, for developer GAME FREAK. Set in a post-apocalyptic future Japan, the Action RPG follows Emma and her dog Koo as they traverse the wastelands battling fearsome beasts.
The game mixes real-time and turn-based combat, with Emma hacking and slashing in Sekiro-like combat, while issuing Koo commands to aid her in battle. It’s certainly GAME FREAK’s best looking game yet, and might finally be the game that showcases what the team can do outside of Pokémon.
Beast of Reincarnation releases on August 4th for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls
Pit Earth’s mightiest heroes and villains against each other in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a 2.5D tag-team fighting game that oozes aura. The comic book-meets-anime aesthetics are a great fit, with characters pop with vibrant colour and dope new costume redesigns.
You assemble a squad of four from twenty overall characters, before duking it out in chaotic 4v4 tag battles. You’ll need to master combos, special abilities, and character synergies to be victorious in local and online PvP. There’s a wide selection of character at launch, with fan-favourties like Spider-Man and Wolverine, and some more left-of-field pulls like Peni Parker and Magik.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls hits PlayStation 5 and PC on August 6th!

Sovereign Tower
Interactive visual novel, Sovereign Tower, is a knights-of-the-realm management RPG where your choices matter… Kind of like Dispatch meets mediaeval fantasy!
You take control of a Kingdom as its new Sovereign, solving problems within your borders by dispatching loyal knights on perilous quests. Whether they succeed or not relies on their stats, skills, and personality; a bad fit could mean your knight comes back with broken armour… Or not at all! Your choices shape the future of the realm.
While that may sound daunting, there is a ‘rewind time’ function, to help you rewrite the kingdom’s destiny. Expand your tower, recruit new knights, build relationships, and even romance characters 😘
Sovereign Tower dispatches to PC on August 7th.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2
Alien games have been hit and miss over the years, with every new entry being compared to Alien: Isolation; so there was plenty of scepticism when the original Aliens: Fireteam Elite was announced. Thankfully, the third-person survival shooter turned out to be a blast. Five years later, it’s sequel time. Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is looking to build on everything that made the first game so great, expanding the squad from three Colonial Marines to four.
Team up with three of your most competent mates to fight through relentless hordes of Xenomorphs and other deadly enemies in the action-packed co-op shooter. Here’s hoping this next mission is anything but game over, man.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 launches on August 26th for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S and PC.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
Set 15 years prior to the events of Requiem, prequel Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy follows a younger Sophia as she explores the accursed Minotaur’s Island.
The original story is set to take the A Plague Tale series in a new direction, with significantly more action and combat than its stealth-survival focused predecessors. Fighting pits and gladiatorial arenas will test your mettle, while intricate puzzles and trials exercise your grey matter.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy releases on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC on August 28th.
STAR WARS Zero Company
STAR WARS Zero Company, puts you in control of an elite squad of mercenaries tasked with putting down a new galactic threat.
In development by XCOM’s Bit Reactor, players will use turn-based tactics to outmanoeuvre enemies across over a dozen familiar and new Star Wars locations.
STAR WARS Zero Company jumps to light speed on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC on August 28th.
