One of the world’s most popular video games has just been given a makeover, offering an all-new gaming experience with strategy gameplay front of mind.
Minecraft Legends is the latest release from Mojang and Microsoft Games Studios, released on most gaming consoles and PC just last week.
Legends removes a lot of the block building and replaces it with base building and army creation.

One of Australia’s leading Minecrafters says that while it’s placing a lot of things in a new light, it’s still very exciting and offers a different kind of family fun.
“Already, I am beginning to see Minecraft characters I’ve known for years in a whole new light, after learning their backstory,” Eystreem, aka Jordan Barclay, told Quest Daily.
Barclay, who makes a living creating videos playing the game on YouTube, says he can’t wait to produce new content that dives deeper into the lore of the characters and world of the game.
“Minecraft’s creativity has always been centred in open, endless worlds and building beyond imagination. (Minecraft: Legends) hasn’t forgotten that and has incorporated both building and randomly generated worlds in a way that I’ve never seen before in this genre of games.”
“One of the biggest differences is that now building is a much stronger tool for survival and requires planning and strategy to protect against the Piglin invasion,” he said.
Minecraft Legends sees you transported to a different Minecraft universe where the evil Piglins are trying to take over. With new abilities and an army by your side, you’ll need to stop the invasion.
“The world and characters of Minecraft are recognisable by anyone, even if they don’t play video games. For those who enjoy action strategy, this might be their first experience with this world, and like everyone who’s played the original game will quickly fall in love with it!” Barclay said.

Although it’s a stripped-back version of the much-beloved game, there’s still a whole new experience and gameplay mechanics on offer for any age group.
“The game is almost unrecognisable since I started playing at just 10 years old when it was first released… With updates coming around every year the game never gets old,” Barclay said.
There’s a bunch of new and old characters added to the game, each able to join you on your quest to defeat the Piglins.
Minecraft Legends is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
