Horizon 3 and ‘online project’ in works, confirms Guerrilla Games

Following the success of the recent Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC, Guerrilla Games has announced Horizon 3 is in the works alongside a new “online project”.

The PlayStation-owned studio has also shared the news that Angie Smets, Studio Director and Executive Producer at Guerrilla, is starting a new role as Head of Development Strategy at PlayStation Studios.

In an official statement, Smets says her time over the past 20 years at Guerrilla has been ‘a dream’.

“I feel privileged to have worked alongside some of the smartest and coolest people in the industry. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve learned alongside all the other Guerrillas. We have accomplished so much as a team, and I’m incredibly proud of all the games we’ve shipped together,” she said.

“A special shoutout to Jan-Bart van Beek and Michiel van der Leeuw. It feels like just yesterday that we were figuring out how to make and ship the first Killzone. Little did we know that we would eventually lead Guerrilla together. You’ve become like brothers to me, and there’s no way to thank you enough. I will miss you dearly.”

Guerilla Games has quite the track record for success it seems! In 2019 Guerilla co-founder Hermen Hulst moved from being Guerilla Game’s managing director to Head of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios.

The statement also confirmed the development of a third major Horizon game, which is set to see Aloy continue on her journey, as well as an “exciting online project”.

The online project hasn’t come as a surprise, it was leaked back in February by an online job listing. The game is expected to feature a ‘new cast of characters and a unique stylized look’.
