Top 20 Minigames: Super Mario Party Jamboree

I’ve always enjoyed the minigames in Mario Party, the ones that test your skills to the max! Reaction time, memory, endurance — there are so many little challenges to keep the party going. Following the launch of Super Mario Party Jamboree, I’ve collated my top 20 minigame levels you can access through Minigame Bay. This list excludes the Boss Minigames to avoid spoilers.

In Granite Getaway, players must run away from the giant boulder and avoid obstacles. It’s pretty straightforward, hence being in 20th position, but it’s always a fun time with more players.

Shuttle Scuttle sees players avoid getting zapped while steering a craft with the Joy-Con. Bump into others to make them get zapped!

In Camera-Ready, players have to take a photo that matches the one shown at the beginning of each round. There are three rounds in total. Make sure you frame it properly for more points!

Broozer Bash is a 1 vs. 3 minigame where the solo player rides the Broozer robot to punch other players. A tough one if you’re the solo player, but so fun trying to bash your friends — in the game I mean…

Cold Front sees players avoid the icy breath of these botoxed-lipped clouds, all while trying not to slip off this massive block of ice. I found this entertaining as you can look to push people off too hehe.

Match Donkey Kong’s rhythm to hit the bongos in Showdown Minigame, DK’s Konga Line. This is purely on here because I love a good rhythm game.

Rocky Rope Race is a two-player team game where you take turns to swing to the next bar to get to the finish line. This one is easy-peasy with communication and coordination, and hectic if not.

While not a hectic level, this 2 vs. 2 minigame requires you to cut the steaks perfectly in half. Prime Cut offers something different from the other levels — and the meat does look so delicious!

Daisy’s Field Day Showdown requires you to collect medals in four events. It’s a simple setting, but the obstacle courses were great fun. Most points win!

Dorrie Pedal-Paddle is a 2 vs. 2 minigame. Work with your partner to pedal a boat towards the goal using your Joy-Con movements. Be careful or else you’ll end up going in circles!

Pickax Dash is a free-for-all minigame where you hold the left or right trigger and swing to dig a tunnel as fast as you can.

Charge up your Joy-Con and press ZR while you swing to hammer in a nail! In Hammer It Home, players must charge their hammer longer to hit harder if required — timing is key.

Peach’s Day Off is a Showdown minigame that features Princess Peach. There’s a bit to this one — you’ll need to carry presents and avoid obstacles, choose the correct trays for the most doughnuts, and collect the correct gems for fireworks.

Turn the wheel with your Joy-Con to turn on the lights as fast as possible. Peach’s Castle looking prettier than ever!

Performing a ground pound will spin a giant hand and mega-slap your opponent. If they jump over it, you get hit. You lose after you’re hit five times. This reminds me of the tequila slaps drinking game Sophie Turner and Conan O’Brien played. Not that I’m condoning slapping people.

In Tilt-a Golf, you … tilt a golf… course to steer the into the hole. You can flick your Joy-Con to lift the ball up. Sink it first to get more points!

Pickin’ Produce is another 2 vs. 2 minigame where you have to sort the fruit correctly onto different conveyor belts. There’s no surprise this is high on the list given my love for Overcooked.

Bowser Jr takes the spotlight in Jr’s Jauntlet, a Showdown minigame! This one had several levels but was really fun to play through. It required players to dodge a series of bullet bills, firing from all angles.

I’m clearly enjoying the Showdown Minigames! In Mario’s Three-peat, players compete for the most points across three games: Leaf Leap, Bumper Balls, and Shy Guy Says. I enjoy having the variety and more time to catch up.

Tiny Triathlon sees players take part in three races in a row. Use the Joy-Con to pedal, paddle, and jump to win the race. This was hands-down my favourite with the different Joy-Con movement varieties.

Special mentions go to Snow Brall and several of the cooking Rhythm Minigames including Soup Troupe, Parfait the Course, On the Beet, and Copycat Curry. While fun, they didn’t all make it on the list because they did get slightly repetitive, but they’d be super enjoyable as part of the classic Mario Party experience. What’s your favourite minigame? Did it make it on our list?

Super Mario Party Jamboree is available now on Nintendo Switch for $79.95.
