How To Unlock The Phantom Field in Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town

For those of you glued to Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town like me, you may have encountered the Phantom Field on the mountain near Shin-chan’s house. If you’re wondering how to access it so you can plant more of those vegetables, you’ve come to the right place.

Sankichi.

First, you have to be given the sub-mission ‘The Missing Frog Stone’. Unbent Villager Sankichi gives this to you. You can find him on the Slope to Farm Terrace, just after the rice paddies in Farm Terrace.

It’s a beautiful place.

Next, you need to speak to Mr. Nihei to find the mama frog stone in Farm Terrace. It appeared for me on the top right of the map, on a rice paddy path.

Put mama frog at the pool.

This took me until the end of the game to figure out as it wasn’t prompted much during the game and I forgot about it. You need to return the mama frog stone to the area in the above image on the mountain. It then turns into the Froggy Spring. You think this might be it but no. The Phantom Field is yet to come.

Once you’ve returned the Mama Frog to Froggy Spring, you should go to Coal Town and speak to one of Discardson’s men who will have an ellipses speech bubble overhead. They’ll direct you to Back Alley Man to find out more about the small frog stone statue.

Back Alley Man.

Back Alley Man can be found near Yuri’s laboratory. He’ll direct you to find out more about the frog statues from Yuri.

What does she know?

Yuri will tell you that she created the frog statues to create the Ribbiting Stream. The mama frog takes water from one area, and it comes out of the small frog statue. Neat! But she doesn’t know where it is. Shucks.

He was always supposed to give it back, but to whom?

How fortuitous that Mr. Tanishi happens to have the small frog statue for sale. Buy it from him for 800 yen. But when you take it to Yuri, she’s dubious it’s the same one. Ignore her.

Tip: If Mr. Tanishi doesn’t have the frog stone, go to sleep and try speaking to him again the next day. He should have ellipses over his head when he’s got it in stock.

Phantom Field.

Yuri’s not as smart as she looks because it IS the right statue! As soon as you put it on the pedestal, Yamao appears and congratulates you for unlocking the Phantom Field. It’s rumoured it grows vegetables faster, which will help you with your cooking missions. Good luck!

Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is available now for $44.99 on PC via Steam and $63.99 on Nintendo Switch.
