We’re back with another exclusive TCG reveal, this time from Magic: The Gathering’s latest set: Foundations.
Banner of Kinship – Artifact
Banner of Kinship is an artifact that showcases Foundations’ focus on straightforward but still impactful effects. When the artifact enters, you choose a creature type. Banner of Kinship enters with one fellowship counter on it for each creature you control of your chosen type. Creatures you control of that chosen type then receive +1/+1 for each fellowship counter on Banner of Kinship.

For a practical example, if you control five 1/1 Mice when you play Banner of Kinship it will receive five fellowship tokens. Your five Mice will then each get +5/+5, as well as any additional Mice you play while Banner of Kinship is active.
The Artwork
Wizards of the Coast has worked with two artists to produce two cards with their own distinctive artwork. Continuing on the theme of Mice, Olena Richards has designed a card that would have fit right into the recent Bloomburrow release. I love the visuals of my favourite denizens of the Bloomburrow plane gathering around the banner.

Chris Seaman has taken his artwork in a less ‘cutesy’ direction. I’m not sure if I’d want to be the soldier waving a fire-spitting dragon banner above my head —but I’d sure be inspired if I saw one of my compatriots doing it during a battle!
The Foundations Set: Building Magic’s Future
Foundations is a unique entry into the Magic universe. Unlike other Standard-legal sets, cards in Foundations will be legal until at least 2029, making it a cornerstone for players building their collections. The set will feature a blend of reprints and new cards, all included or designed with simplicity and impact in mind.
The set will be a great entry point for new players, offering a friendlier “learn to play” experience, while still offering seasoned veterans some more advanced cards. Be sure to check out the official Foundations set page for more details.
