Hot off the heels of announcing their Monty Python Secret Lair collab, Wizard of the Coast has released their latest set: Magic: The Gathering: Bloomburrow.
It seems Wizard’s have taken some inspiration from the ‘Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog‘ from Monty Python and the Holy Grail for this set, with it featuring the first ever all-animal plane filled with unique animal inhabitants that are as cute as they are deadly.

Introducing Bloomburrow
Bloomburrow brings a different vibe to the standard we’re used to, with cute, playful artwork and an array of lizards, badgers, rabbits, bats, otters and more to complement your latest deck. One wonders if the looming threat of Disney’s Lorcana inspired Wizard’s to try their own hand at a light-hearted release, but Bloomburrow still feels like MtG through and through.

Described as “a tiny world of big adventure”, several new mechanics have been introduced:
- Offspring is a new keyword found on creature cards, which allows players to pay an additional mana cost to create a 1/1 token copy.
- Forage allows players to exile three cards from their graveyard (or sacrifice a food token) to trigger different effects.
- Expend tracks how much mana a player has spent during their turn, with various boons granted.
- Gift allows you to promise gifts to your opponent, not because you’re a generous soul but more so to reap other rewards.
An in-depth guide to the new mechanics is available on the Magic the Gathering website.
As always, Wizard’s have made sure the new set is collectible in all the right ways (except the impact on your wallet). New Showcase Woodland frames are available, with designs changing depending on the animal factions.

You’ll always have the opportunity to track down full-art lands available in four seasons, as well as Three Tree City available in four treatments – one per season.

And finally, there are Borderless Raised Foil cards. Only available in Collector Boosters, these look to be the ‘chase’ cards from the set, with the most desirable already fetching eye watering prices online.

Bloomburrow is available now, and there’s just about every product you can imagine available. From Play and Collector Boosters, to Bundles, to Commander decks – there will be a product there for you.

Quest Daily was supplied with a Commander Deck and boosters of the Bloomburrow set for the purpose of this article.
