Video games releasing in September 2024

September… Or should I say Smol-tember? This month is dominated by cute, adorably sized characters, from some fantastic looking games. From Astro Bots to Funko Pops, Plucky Squires to Legendary Princesses; there’s no shortage of miniature heroes coming in September.

Here are our most anticipated games releasing in September 2024.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions

Get ready to mount your broomsticks and polish those quaffles, because Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is almost here. This new title by developer Unbroken Studios lets you dive into the wizarding world’s most beloved sport, where you’ll chase victory faster than a Firebolt.

Whether you’re dodging bludgers or aiming for the elusive Golden Snitch, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is offering a magical blend of high-flying action and team strategy. They also just announced a PS1 Hagrid skin for your player… Wild.

It’s coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 3rd. It’s also one of the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for September, so be sure to add it to your library!

Astro Bot

Astro Bot is back, and this time he’s blasting off to new heights! In this charming adventure, our pint-sized PlayStation hero returns to explore dazzling worlds filled with peculiar puzzles, precarious platforming, and notable nods to the PlayStation fandom.

Much like Astro’s Playroom, the game takes full advantage of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller, with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that make every jump, punch, and glide feel incredibly immersive. QD recently went hands-on with the game and we can hardly contain our excitement. Astro Bot looks to deliver a stellar mix of fun and challenge.

It’s set to land on PlayStation 5 on September 6th.

Wild Bastards

From Aussie studio Blue Manchu Games, Wild Bastards is the spiritual successor to 2019 hit Void Bastards, instantly evident from the eye-catching comic book art style.

The tactical-roguelike FPS features a procedurally-generated galaxy, where every planet has its own terrain, weather, and even gravity. Assessing the planet and picking the right crew to explore is key to victory. You’ll need to manage a crew of thirteen outlaws, each with their own weapons, abilities, relationships, and rivalries.

Wild Bastards is coming to a galaxy near you on September 13th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Funko Fusion

In Funko Fusion, the world of Pop! collectibles gets a playful twist as your favorite pop culture characters come to life in a vibrant mashup of fun and chaos.

Funko Pop! figures from various franchises team up (or face off) in a colourful, blocky universe. Whether you’re solving puzzles, battling it out, or just exploring the quirky landscapes, Funko Fusion looks to offer a delightful blend of fandom and gameplay.

It’s releasing on September 13th for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Previous gen consoles will gain access on November 15th.

The Plucky Squire

What starts as a charming 2D storybook adventure quickly turns into something much more magical. The Plucky Squire, developed by All Possible Futures, follows Jot and his friends — storybook characters who stumble into a three-dimensional world outside the pages of their book.

We previewed the first four chapters of the game last month and it’s shaping up to be something truly special.

The Plucky Squire’s story begins on September 17th for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available as part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers!

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Zelda? That’s the guy in green with the sword right?” We all know the jokes, we’ve all done the jokes, but FINALLY we’re getting a Legend of Zelda game where the main character actually is Zelda!! The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is an all-new adventure fronted by the titular princess, rendered in the same colourful toy-box art style as the 2019 remake of Link’s Awakening.

On her journey to save the people of Hyrule, Princess Zelda teams up with the fairy Tri, and becomes the wielder of the powerful Trirod. The Trirod can imitate objects found in the environment, copying and pasting them to bend them to your will. Capture monsters and make them fight for you, grab a bat and glide over gaps, even stack blocks of water and swim right up a cliff! The possibilities seem endless.

The level of creativity on show is immense, and I can’t wait to see how the community uses the toolbox given to them, to solve the game’s puzzles.

Echoes of Wisdom releases exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on September 26th.
