Video games releasing in May 2026

It’s gonna be MAY! 🎶 Justin Timberlake memes aside, May brings a cornucopia of new video games to add to your playlist: Rowdy rhythm brawlers, LEGO block battlers, secret agent simulators, and more!

Here are our most anticipated games releasing in May 2026:

Dead as Disco

Neon-drenched, funky-fighter Dead as Disco is releasing into early access. The game takes a fluid combat system of strikes and counters — akin to something like the Batman Arkham games — and remixes it into a full blown rhythm game. You sync your jazzy jabs and K-pop kicks to the time of the beat, unleashing special attacks to bring down the house.

The Beat ‘Em Up follows fallen icon Charlie Disco as he battles his ex-bandmates for one last shot in the spotlight. An eclectic soundtrack backs the action, with existing bangers like Maniac and The Final Countdown, as well as original music tracks. Dead as Disco will also let you bring your own music library into the game, meaning you can brawl to the beat of your favourite songs!

It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘beat down’. Dead as Disco releases into Steam early access on May 6th.

Mixtape

A classic coming-of-age movie in video game form, MIXTAPE follows a group of friends for one last night of teenage antics and reminiscence. Backed by a killer soundtrack with the likes of The Cure and The Smashing Pumpkins, the nostalgic trip down memory lane looks to have a mixtape of gameplay styles that switch up between each shared memory.

The narrative adventure, from BAFTA award-winning developers Beethoven and Dinosaur, is all about the misadventures of youth: skateboarding, riding in shopping carts, running from the police… Learning to let-go and move on to the next adventure.

MIXTAPE hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 7th.

Forza Horizon 6

The Forza Horizon series is jetting over to Japan for its sixth major instalment. Players will race through sakura-lined countryside, launch over waterfalls, smash through bamboo forests, and drift through city streets in one of this year’s most anticipated titles.

Quest Daily previewed Forza Horizon 6 last month, and it’s already proving to be one of 2026’s best. The variety of landscapes, vehicles, and quality-of-life improvements make it the perfect next step for the Horizon catalogue.

Forza Horizon 6 is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19th. PlayStation 5 players can dive in later this year.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

Fairytale adventure Yoshi and the Mysterious Book sees loveable dino Yoshi on a journey of discovery, exploring a novel world and the creatures that inhabit it.

Mr. E (a talking encyclopedia) has lost the information within his pages, and asks Yoshi to dive in and help! You eat, jump on, and carry different critters, learning more about them and filling pages with the discovered information. Each creature grants Yoshi a unique gameplay ability, like blowing bubbles, digging through the earth, or making flowers bloom.

It looks cosy and accessible, with a low amount of confrontation, which sounds perfect for both new and younger gamers.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on May 21st.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight may well be the Caped Crusader’s biggest outing yet, drawing from a back catalogue of movies, games and more. It looks very much like a Rocksteady Batman game in LEGO form, with its fluid combat system, stealth sections, and huge open-world.

It’s shaping up to be a collector’s dream, featuring 100 different outfits, a huge variety of Bat-vehicles from across the Bat-verse, and plenty of gadgets and trophies to find. We can’t wait to explore Gotham City’s LEGO makeover.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 23rd. It’s also coming to Nintendo Switch 2 later in the year.

007 First Light

Blockbuster action movie video game 007 First Light tells a reimagined origin story of the famous spy, back when he was but a novice 00-agent in training.

The third-person action-adventure is being developed by IO Interactive, who you might know from that other famous spy franchise, Hitman. While some of its predecessors’ freedom of exploration has been swapped out for a more cinematic style, the DNA is still there; most notably the ability to approach situations with stealth and cunning, utilise the environment to your advantage, or just go in all guns blazing.

Gameplay looks fantastic, like a mash-up of Hitman and Uncharted, with a classic thrilling James Bond storyline wrapped around. A quippy young Bond, an arsenal of gadgets from Q, and action that’ll leave you both shaken AND stirred… What more can you ask for!?

007 First Light launches on May 28th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. There’s also a Switch 2 version in the works for later in the year.
