Stars align at brand-new Metro Comic Con event

A shiny new convention has come to Melbourne, with the somewhat familiar name, Metro Comic Con.

Claiming to be a new world of adventure for fans of pop culture and THE destination for all things film, TV, animation, gaming, cosplay, collectables and more. While it didn’t quite deliver on the excitement side of things, it was still a fantastic day.

The first thing that catches your eye is that Metro Comic Con is much smaller than other conventions of the same nature, which is understandable being the debut show and all.

Metro Comic Con boasted a very impressive lineup of guests for autographs and photographs including fan favourites like David Harbour & Jamie Campbell Bower from Stranger Things, Tom Ellis & D.B. Woodside from Lucifer, and absolute icons in the form of Henry Thomas from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Khary Payton from The Walking Dead and so many more.

I myself had the pleasure of getting some movies signed by Henry Thomas and David Harbour and can I say, what lovely people.

Another big attraction is the number of Q&A panels across 3 stages.
I attended Henry Thomas’ panel first and it was remarkable to hear about the fantastic life he has had across all his incredible films.

I also attended David Harbour’s panel, and he was the most humble and charismatic human being. He genuinely knows hold a room and keep an audience engaged, and is far more than an incredible actor.

There are collectables of all varieties spread out across dozens of stalls, trading cards, power rangers, comics, figurines and plenty more.
Plenty of talented artists are also set-up across the downtown and city central showroom floors, my favourite being Austen Mengler.

There’s still one day of Metro Comic Con to go, with tickets available HERE.
Although the convention does offer weekend passes, I assure you that one day is more than enough to check out everything that the show has to offer.
