Have you ever had a run-in with your neighbour over their dog barking all night? Bins never being brought in? Loud music from dusk ’til dawn? And you have no way to vent your frustrations? Neighbors: Suburban Warfare might solve your problems.
Highlighted at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase, Neighbors: Suburban Warfare is not the Ramsay Street simulator I first thought it was. Instead, it’s a team-based first-person shooter where you’ll do battle with the eccentric characters who share your street.
Neighbors: Suburban Warfare leans into the madness with bird poo bombardments, vicious pet attacks, and a variety of gadgets and tools as makeshift weapons. Hilariously there’s the ability to literally tea-bag your enemies — That’s tea bagging with a cup of tea… Not the other kind!
The game will launch with eight unique playable characters, each with their own abilities, so I’m expecting class-based clashes in the style of Team Fortress 2 or Overwatch.

You won’t just be limited to street fighting, with upgrades and traps available for your house — Home Alone style — suggesting that defensive strategies will be vital. Home and contents insurance won’t save you this time!
The bright, cartoonish art style brings your traditional FPS gameplay into a less violent, more family-friendly arena. Upon first glance, it felt evocative of the similarly-named Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

It’s a tough market at the moment to try and launch a multiplayer FPS. Can the slapsticky charm of Neighbors: Suburban Warfare stand out and see success? We’ll find when the game launches into early access on Steam on April 18th.
