After some unfortunate leaks earlier in the week, LEGO and 2K have revealed their blockbuster (hehe) open-world driving adventure, LEGO 2K Drive.

The game looks like a smashing good time! The world is bright and cheerful with a bunch of quirky characters. Putting pedal to the metal and blasting through everything in your way looks super satisfying.
Behind the wheel of your transforming vehicle, you’ll have the freedom to drive anywhere. Race on track or go off-road, even open water won’t slow you down.
‘Take on the exciting Story mode, jump into a single race or Cup Series tournaments, and let loose in off-the-wall minigames. Master the arts of drifting, boosting, and using power-ups to claim victory!’

You’ll also have a garage to build and modify vehicles, then take them out for test-drives. Construct race-cars, boats and off-road vehicles brick-by-brick.
Up to six players can jump online and race together and the game even has local two-player split-screen, which is a bit of a rare sight nowadays.

According to the official website, you’ll select your driver from a roster of pre-made Minifigures and while you’ll be able to unlock more drivers, there are no plans to let you customise the look of your own Minifigure.
Seems like a bit of a missed opportunity considering the sheer breadth of LEGO history that they could draw from.

There are three editions to choose from. Standard, Drive Awesome and Drive Awesome Rivals.
‘Race anywhere, play with anyone, build your dream rides, and defeat a cast of wild racing rivals for the coveted Sky Cup Trophy!’
LEGO 2K Drive is set to release May 19 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
