It’s taken it’s sweet time, but perhaps the most obvious movie-to-videogame adaptation is finally on the horizon. In PlayStation’s latest State of Play, Saber Interactive and Lionsgate announced an upcoming untitled John Wick game… And it looks positively badass.
The trailer opens up with a stylish cinematic to a captivating soundtrack, reminiscent of the films. Fast-paced fight scenes intercut with John, calm and composed, gearing up in a custom-tailored suit and preparing for his next mission.

It’s a fairly short trailer, but there is some gameplay showcasing John Wick’s distinct combat style; a blend of martial arts and firearms combat, commonly referred to as ‘Gun Fu’. It’s not actually Wick’s first video game outing, John Wick Hex put you in the shoes of the pencil wielding assassin, but that was a strategy/tactics game and didn’t really fulfill the John Wick action fantasy. This new outing is looking a lot more promising.
As a huge fan of the meticulously crafted action sequences in the films, the biggest question on my mind is whether it’ll feel as good to play as it is to watch, I sure hope so. We also hear Keanu Reeves himself voice a line in the trailer, which brings me to my next question: Can Keanu voice the entire game, please?

Not much was said by way of narrative, leaving a lot of room for speculation. Though I get the feeling it will be a brand new story, with plenty of rules and consequences. I would love to see some familiar faces too!
So far, I like what I see, and I’m eager for more! There’s no release date yet, but John Wick will come to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait too long to play as the man, the myth, the legend himself.
