EXCLUSIVE

Astro Bot is out now, and completionists are already diving deep into its vibrant world, scouring every nook and cranny, eager to unearth every secret. DLC when!?

I recently had the chance to catch up with Nicolas Doucet, Studio Director at Team Asobi, who shared that those who have already beaten the game won’t need to wait long for more.

A free content update is on the horizon and it promises to expand on the already stellar experience. The DLC will add new VIP bots to rescue, speed-running modes, and an intriguing “toy” feature.

“It’s not going to be a huge amount, but it would be focusing on one of the features that people enjoyed in Astro’s Playroom,” Doucet explained, confirming to Quest Daily that speed running is on the way.

These challenges will allow players to race against the clock and compete with friends for the fastest times, adding a new layer of competition to the game’s already polished platforming mechanics. For those who relish a bit of friendly rivalry (looking at you, Shaun), this feature is bound to be a highlight.

While Doucet didn’t give away too many details about the mysterious “toy” feature, it’s clear that Team Asobi is planning something special to keep players hooked. Whether it’s a new gameplay mechanic or an interactive feature that ties into Astro’s world, fans are no doubt in for a treat.

We can expect the free Astro Bot DLC to arrive later this year.

There are few games that manage to strike the perfect balance between nostalgia and innovation, but Astro Bot pulls it off effortlessly. From the moment you take control of the shiny little robot, you’re thrust into a world that feels both familiar and brand new. It’s a celebration of PlayStation’s past, while pushing the boundaries of what modern platformers can achieve.
