Review | Netgear Nighthawk RS700 ‘Absolute Game Changer’

I’ve fallen in love with my router. The Netgear Nighthawk RS700 is more than just a fancy modem; it’s a revolution in home networking.

Picture this: streaming at faster speeds, no dropouts or interruptions, downloading video games in minutes — sure, a fast internet connection helps, but RS700’s WiFi 7 technology is a game changer.

It’s like going from a push bike to a Lamborghini in the world of stable internet.

I had almost always used the supplied modem from my internet provider. I never realised how essential a good router was; my mind has been opened.

I’ve experienced seamless gaming sessions at home with my PlayStation Portal – no lag, no frustrations.

Previously, I couldn’t play a Fortnite match with mates without lagging, now I’ve put 50 hours into Helldivers 2 and have lagged an inch.

Expanding Your Network

But the RS700 isn’t just about speed and stability; it’s about adaptability too. With the capacity to connect up to 200 devices simultaneously, it’s perfect for homes bursting with gadgets. From security cameras to smart TVs, everything integrates seamlessly into your network, making your home smarter and more connected than ever. It’s more than I could ever need, the most I’ve had connected at any one time was 17.

NETGEAR Armor can blocks threats, notifying you of any attempted attacks.

Security is paramount in the modem age, and the RS700 delivers. With NETGEAR Armor, your home network is shielded from potential threats and dodgy websites, keeping your data safe and secure. You get alerts to your phone every time a new device connects and dodgy websites and halted.

Setting up the RS700 is a breeze. There are no complicated instructions or tech headaches – just plug it in, download the app, and follow the prompts. I replaced my old modem effortlessly and reconnected all my devices without a hitch.

When setting up a new router, it can be painful to reconnect all your devices. The best tip I have is to name your new router the same and give it the same password — this allows all previously connected devices to jump straight on.

Should I buy the Netgear Nighthawk RS700?

At $1,500, its an investment, but for anyone who values top-tier performance and security, it’s worth every penny. It also comes with a one-year subscription to NETGEAR Armor, so you’re getting peace of mind along with a fast and secure home network.

You could run a small business off this thing with ease.

The Netgear Nighthawk RS700 isn’t just a router – it’s a game-changer. If you’re tired of slow connections and security concerns, it’s time to upgrade your modem. And while the RS700 is an absolute beast, you’ll need to consider what’s best for your home.

If you’re keen on future-proofing your home network for a while, it’s a great product. That said, there are plenty of other more suitable devices for a family.

You can’t go wrong with with Netgear’s Nighthawk WiFi 6 range, at just a third of the price it’ll do any home network with ease. Now, it’s worth noting that not too many products support WiFi 7 at this stage.

I recently helped a family member struggling with their home network. Their purchase of a Netgear router removed the need for a WiFi extender and allowed multiple smart TVs to stream at once without changing internet providers.

It’s amazing what a good router can do.
