Cosy game lovers rejoice! There are dozens of cute and cuddly video games coming to a console or PC near you.
If you love to curl up on the couch with a blanket and your Nintendo Switch, these Indie games will surely hit the spot.
Here’s everything showcased at the 2023 Wholesome Direct.
Smushi Come Home
In Smushi Come Home, you play as a tinnie tiny mushroom on a mission. Freely explore a magical forest, solve puzzles, and meet interesting characters on the way.
The best part about this game is it’s out now! You can pick it up on PC via Steam and on Nintendo Switch.
Check out the steam page for Smushi Come Home here.
Moonstone Island
Moonstone Island is giving off huge Stardew Valley vibes – and we love to see it. Featuring creature collecting, card mechanics, farming, relationship building, 2D side-scrolling – this game has a lot going on. Developed by Studio Supersoft, the studio has also collaborated with Terraria to bring slimes to Moonstone Island. It’s coming soon to Nintendo Switch and PC.
Check out the Steam page here.
Sticker Tale
This is probably the only acceptable way to enjoy stickers IMO. A Tiny Sticker Tale sees you ‘save the world’ with stickers, take any object from the world, pop it into your sticker book, and reuse the stickers on your journey to help you solve puzzles.
A Tiny Sticker Tale by Ogre Pixel is out now, you can check it out here. There’s also a free demo available on the Steam store.
Wood + Weather
Ever wanted to control the weather? Now you can!
Wood & Weather, developed by Melbourne studio Paper House, sees you play god in a small wooden toy world.
It’s coming soon to PC and consoles, but in the meantime, you can play a demo of Wood & Weather on PC. Check it out here!
Kibu
Embark on a tranquil adventure in the wilderness of Kibu. Build a temple and garden, brew teas, and seek out ancient spirits. Carve your own special corner in this beautiful, mysterious land.
Check out Kibu and wishlist on Steam here.
Fall of Porcupine
A unique check-up on a wild health system is what awaits players in Fall of Porcupine. This story-driven adventure sees the player take control of Finley, a pigeon humanoid, and meet other members of the animal kingdom in a Greys Anatomy/Mission Impossible-style adventure (I don’t know how much that Grey’s Anatomy line will stick, that’s just the vibe we got from the trailer).
Fall of Porcupine is coming to PC on June 15. There’s a demo available now, check it out on the Steam page here.
Everdeep Aurora
Everdeep Aurora answers the ancient question ‘What would happen if you gave a cat a drill?’. When a cataclysmic event occurs, the world is forced underground. You play as a cute little cat named Shell and must explore the Everdeep, drill in hand, in search of your mother.
Obviously, there’s a lot more to this game than a cat drilling downward, its art style alone is a standout. This game is probably our most anticipated game on the list.
Everdeep Aurora is still in development, we’ll keep an eye on it. You can wishlist it on Steam here.
There was a truckload of other wholesome games shown off, here’s a list of handy links:
