Where’s the Love? Aussie Icons Absent in TopSpin 2K25 Player Roster

Get ready to step onto the digital courts because TopSpin 2K25 is right around the corner! But before I start warming up my virtual serve, there’s one thing that’s got me scratching my head.

Where are our Aussie tennis stars!?

As of today, March 25, not a single Australian player has been announced. Not even our very own world #9, Alex ‘The Demon’ De Minaur, gets a shot at gaming glory.

The absence of legends like Pat Rafter or Leyton Hewitt is a bit of a disappointment. No Ash Barty? Heck, not even Nick Kyrigos!? It’s definitely a curveball.

In TopSpin 4, released in 2011, Aussie icon Patrick Rafter, alongside Bernard Tomic, featured as playable characters. Now, over a decade later, we’ve seemingly been sidelined.

But there might still be hope, with 2K confirming to Quest Daily that more players are to be announced post-launch. Could we see an Aussie wave? I’ve got my fingers crossed.

While it’s a shame we’re missing out on some homegrown talent, at least we’ll still get to experience the thrill of the Australian Open in the game. Melbourne’s iconic venues, including Rod Laver Arena, will be part of the gaming experience.
