Clive Rosfield stans rejoice! A new trailer for the Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide DLC has dropped, giving us a much more in-depth look at what we can expect, and more importantly, when we can expect it. Fans can jump back into the world of Valisthea on April 18th.

After giving Final Fantasy XVI a perfect 10/10 for its phenomenal characters, story, and grandiose boss battles; I was a little cooler on its first DLC. Echoes of the Fallen delivered a beautiful new combat dungeon and some quality boss battles, but didn’t didn’t do much in the way of narrative.
The Rising Tide, however, is shaping up to deliver more of what I loved.

The Rising Tide
The DLC, which takes place before the end of the main game, sees Clive and co. on a mission to rescue the Dominant of Leviathan.

I’m eagerly anticipating the new story and character moments that Tides will bring, along with the new character Shula, who will fight alongside Clive in battle.
I’m always keen for more of Ben Starr’s fantastic voice acting alongside the stellar supporting cast, and of course, I’m champing at the bit to go toe-to-toe with the great sea serpent itself, in another epic Kaiju-level boss battle.
There’ll also be new side stories to better get to know the land of Mysidia and its people.

Taming the tides, Clive will be able to call on the Eikon of water, Leviathan, to drown his foes. New Eikonic abilities bolster your arsenal as you duke it out with new enemies and bosses.

Final Fantasy veterans will no doubt be both excited and terrified to be going up against the dreaded Tonberry King! I can almost hear the knives sharpening now!
The max level cap will also be raised, and a new challenge mode, Kairos Gate, will be added.
The Rising Tide will be available on the 18th of April, along with a free quality of life update.
