Video games releasing in July 2023

June was pretty massive for games, with Street Fighter 6, Diablo 4 and Final Fantasy XVI all releasing and receiving critical acclaim.
July is thankfully looking a little quieter, but there’s still some gems to look forward to, with the likes of Pikmin 4 and Viewfinder.

Here’s our list of the games to play this month.

Synapse

Synapse is an action-packed shooter created for the PS VR2.
Set in a monochromatic world; actions like gunfire, explosions and telekinesis add splashes of neon colour that really pop against the black and white.
Turn the mind into a battlefield and unleash your inner anti-hero with brutal firepower in one hand and surging telekinesis in the other.

Synapse is out July 4 on PS VR2.

Oxenfree II: Lost Signals

Five years on from the events of the much loved OXENFREE, it’s sequel has Riley Poverly returning to her hometown to investigate peculiar radio signals. But not all is right within the small coastal town of Camena…

OXENFREE II: LOST SIGNALS features a new walkie talkie system, allowing you to chat with the locals to uncover new information and insights. You can also just ignore them if you want, but there MAY be consequences to that! Your choices will shape the story, impact relationships and affect who Riley becomes as a person.

OXENFREE 2 is out on July 12 for PS4, PS5, Switch and PC.

Exoprimal

Exoprimal is an online, team-based action game, that has you exo-suiting up with your friends and take on swarms of Neo-dinosaurs with an arsenal of futuristic weaponry.

Choose between assault, tank, or support to build a balanced team to take on the prehistoric menace. You aren’t locked into one suit though, you can change exosuits at any time.

Exoprimal is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC on July 14.

Viewfinder

Viewfinder is a brain-breaking, reality-shifting puzzler uses perspective in some phenomenal ways.
I especially love how the colour palette/art style of the world can change depending on the style of photo/painting/sketch you use when changing the world around you.

“Challenge perception, redefine reality, and reshape the world around you with an instant camera.”

I’m looking forward to having my brain shattered into a million tiny pieces when Viewfinder releases on PS5 and PC on July 18.

Pikmin 4

Pikmin 4 puts you in the shoes of a tiny space explorer who crash lands on a strange planet, employs an army of critters of different colours and abilities to overcome obstacles and enemies to get back home.

With the new nightfall feature, you’ll have to stop what you’re doing and head back to the safety of your ship, lest your little Pikmin buddies get eaten by the creatures of the night!

Pikmin 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch on July 21.

Disney Illusion Island

In Disney Illusion Island, join Mickey Mouse and friends, on an adventure to unravel the mysteries of Disney Illusion Island!

Jump, swing, swim, and glide through multiple biomes, meeting intriguing characters and uncovering hidden secrets along the way.
Plenty of puzzles and epic boss battles await!

With hand-drawn animations, an original soundtrack and authentic voice cast, it looks like a must for any Disney fan.

Disney Illusion Island launches onto Nintendo Switch on July 28.

Other games out this month

It’s a good month to catch up on your backlog, with many of the July releases looking to be shorter length games.

I’ll be tucking into Viewfinder and then looking to FINALLY finish Star Wars Jedi Survivor.
