September was a pretty big month for new game releases (Silksong, Hades II, Borderlands 4), but already October is saying ‘hold my beer’. Ghost of Yotei draws first blood, Battlefield 6 is gearing up for release, and new entries in the Pokémon and Ninja Gaiden franchises have fans eating good. There’s also a slew of cool new indies to check out.
Here are our most anticipated games releasing in October 2025:
Ghost of Yōtei
The hotly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima is kicking off October! Ghost of Yōtei tells the story of Atsu on an epic tell of revenge — it’s one of the best games of 2025.
Featuring a beautiful open world, brutal combat alongside all new weapons, Yōtei is definitely one to consider picking up.

It’s out exclusively on PlayStation 5 come October 2nd.
Absolum
Absolum brings an exciting new spin to the roguelite genre, by adding classic beat ’em up action into the mix. The new fantasy IP brings together Dotemu and Guard Crush’s action-heavy gameplay style (Streets of Rage 4) with Supamonks’ fantastic art and animation.
Combat looks fast and chaotic, while the art-style and enemy design is like a graphic novel come to life. Its roguelite DNA promises branching pathways to explore, unpredictable enemy encounters, and near endless replayability.
Absolum hits digital stores on October 10th for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Battlefield 6
Move over, Call of Duty! Battlefield is back and it’s bringing the thunder. After a widely successful beta period, players are eager to get back into the cockpit and battle it out for glory.
While Battflefield 6 has already locked in its action packed multiplayer, it also includes a campaign — which we can’t wait to check out.
Not long to go! Battlefield 6 is launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 11th.

Pokémon Legends Z-A
Pokémon Legends is changing up the formula again, with realtime battles with trainers. In Pokémon Legends Z-A, players will explore Lumiose City.
As for how much of the game is set inside the city, we’ll have to wait and see — but it seems to be the majority.
The starter Pokémon this time around are familiar pals, with Chikorita, Tepig or Totodile out of the gate.
Pokémon Legends Z-A is coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 16th.

The Outer Worlds 2
Obsidian Entertainment have been busy! Avowed was only seven months ago, now we’ve got The Outer Worlds 2 — not to mention Grounded 2.
This quirky space RPG offers multiple choice conversations, new and exciting worlds and intense action.
We had the opportunity to dive into a preview of the game recently and it’s shaping up to be a blast. Haven’t played the first game? Don’t worry about it — The Outer Worlds 2 easily holds its own.
Launch into The Outer Worlds 2 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC on October 30th.
Mina the Hollower
Yacht Club Games (Shovel Knight) have been cooking on Mina the Hollower since 2022, and the wait looks so worth it! The retro-inspired 2D platformer brings a nostalgia hit for retro gamers; the 8-bit graphics taking me right back to playing The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening on the Game Boy Color.
The action-adventure has you playing as Mina, an adorable little mouse on a mission to save a cursed island. You take on enemies and bosses with a variety of weapons and gadgets, while helping out a variety of colourful characters on the island.
[UPDATE: Mina the Hollower has been delayed to an unspecified date.]
