Metaphor: ReFantazio

What if you took the flashy dungeon-crawling, social-sim Persona games and thrust them into a medieval fantasy setting? You’d get Metaphor: ReFantazio, the latest jaunt from acclaimed Persona director Katsura Hashino.

The turn-based RPG is set in a fantastical world, with numerous humanoid species, fearsome monsters, and dazzling magical powers. In the highest stakes popularity contest ever, the protagonist is in a race to win over the most voters and become the new king. Forming alliances and strengthening those bonds are key to becoming the frontrunner in the race to the throne.

Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on the 11th of October for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

There’s also a demo available to try now, with your progress carrying over to the main game.

Neva

Neva follows the adventures of Alba, and her bonded wolf cub as they traverse a rapidly dying world. The minimalist 2D action-adventure from the developers of Gris, looks to be another atmospheric experience with a fantastic soundtrack.

Inspired by climate change and social unrest, the emotional tale will feature platforming puzzles, fast-paced combat, and a wolf that grows and matures over time, echoing its developing relationship with Alba.

Neva hits PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 16th.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

The next chapter of Call of Duty brings back the intense multiplayer action fans love — plus the return of round-based zombies! The first Black Ops game was released way back in 2010, and we’ve come such a long way since then. The new omnimovement mechanic is set to redefine how players move and fight within the game, for example the ability to sprint, slide, or dive in any direction.

If the beta response was anything to go by, online gamers are in for a treat. There’s also an action-packed, espionage-flavoured campaign, set in the early 90s, post-cold war era.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is releasing across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC on October 25th.

Fruitbus

Live your best cosy-foodtruck life in Fruitbus, a vibrant and quirky culinary adventure. In this delightfully cute cooking sim, you’ll need to travel an open world, forage ingredients, prepare mouthwatering dishes, and serve them to your loyal customers.

Customise both your truck and your menu to attract the hungry masses, and listen to their stories as you fill their bellies.

Fruitbus pulls into the parking lot on October 29th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Jump back into the post-apocalyptic world of Horizon Zero Dawn with this new remaster that promises to bring the visuals up to the high standard of its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. Dismantling robot dinosaurs with bomb arrows never looked so good; the all new facial capture enhancing the performance of Aloy and her companions.

The remaster makes the most of the PS5’s power, bringing the improved character models from Forbidden West back into Zero Dawn, and will also include over ten hours of re-recorded conversations, revamped sound mix, accessibility features, DualSense controller integration, improved animation, lighting and textures. The Frozen Wilds DLC is also packaged in.

While not all fans are happy with the amount of remakes and remasters PlayStation has been putting out lately, there’s no denying that this version of the game will be the best way to experience the first chapter of Aloy’s story. And, if you already own the game, the remaster is a $10 USD upgrade, which is a pretty good deal.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is coming to PS5 and PC on the 31st of October.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The lands of Thedas are in chaos, and it’s up to you to unite the Veilguard and stand against ancient Elven gods… Damn, that sounds cool. In Dragon Age: The Veilguard (formerly known as Dreadwolf), you’ll lead a group of seven unique companions through a sprawling world filled with dragons, magic, and treachery at every turn.

With rich character interactions and detailed environments, this RPG promises epic battles and choices that bear impactful consequences. According to game previews, players will need to confirm some choices from Inquisition before beginning this new chapter, making it a direct sequel. I can already feel the hours slipping away in the character creator alone.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 31st (November 1st for our Aussie time zone)
