It’s finally May! This month, one of the BIGGEST games of the year releases! I’m sure, like me, you’re all itching to get your hands on Bare Butt Boxing!
Oh also that indie game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is coming out too.
Here’s our list of the games to play this month.

Redfall
Redfall is the latest from Arkane Studios, the team behind Deathloop and Dishonoured. The looter-shooter has been met with mixed reviews and appears to be riddled with bugs. Still, it’s a fun time with friends and at no extra expense if you already have Xbox Game Pass.
Redfall is out now on Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass and PC.
Destiny 2: Guardian Games
The Guardian Games are back baby! A class-based competition that pits Titans vs Hunters vs Warlocks in a battle for supremacy!
Gather your crew and compete against teams from around the globe to win a bunch of cool prizes.
The free event is live now for all Destiny 2 players and runs until May 24th.
Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy was a runaway hit when it released for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC earlier this year. Now, even more games will be able to experience the magic, with it’s ‘last gen’ release right around the corner.
In our review we said “Hogwarts Legacy is nostalgic and personable, it offers freedom and possibility, along with a Firebolt of action and adventure.”
Hogwarts Legacy will release for PS4 and Xbox One on May 5th.
Nintendo fans will have to wait until later in the year for their Hogwarts enrollment letter.

Fall Guys – Creative Construction
FINALLY! Fall Guys is getting a creator mode! Since launching way back in 2020, it was clear a course creator would be a perfect fit for the game.
Soon you’ll be able to design your own ridiculous obstacle courses packed with mayhem and fun!
Fall Guys Creative Construction goes live on May 10th.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns
Another previously released game that is finally releasing on ‘last gen’ hardware is Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
The superhero turn-based tactics game was warmly received by critics when it released late last year, though commercially it struggled. Hopefully the game can find it’s second wind with this second release.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns releases for PS4 and Xbox One on May 11th.
Sadly the Nintendo Switch version of the game has been cancelled.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The long awaited sequel to Breath of the Wild is almost upon us! Tears of the Kingdom is undoubtedly the biggest release this month, if not the whole year.
From what we’ve seen teased so far, the sequel has taken the brilliant foundation of the first game and piled on new features, enemies, areas of interest and massively overhauled the map.
I’ve had the trailer music stuck in my head for weeks now and am eagerly awaiting what other musical treats they have in the main game.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases exclusively for Nintendo Switch on May 12th.

Diablo IV – Server Slam
The final beta cometh.
Server Slam gives players one last chance for one last taste of what Diablo IV has to offer before it’s full release in June.
Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, or Sorcerer. Which will you choose!?
Play all 5 classes up to level 20, battle world boss Ashava and earn unique rewards. The entire first zone, Fractured Peaks, will be available to explore and plunder.
Diablo IV Server Slam will run from May 13th to 15th on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC
Humanity
Humanity blends devious puzzle-solving with platformer-action mechanics.
In this Lemmings-like, you will lead a horde of ever-marching people to salvation. Command the masses through more than 90 challenging levels, instructing them when to turn, jump, push, float, climb and more!
Did I mention you’re also a Shiba Inu… No seriously.
Humanity releases on May 16th for PC, PS4 and PS5 (with optional PS VR and PS VR2 support) at no additional cost to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members.
LEGO 2K DRIVE
The ‘Huge-gantic’ LEGO 2K Drive is just around the bend!
Explore the bright and cheerful open-world, packed with quirky characters.
Build and modify your own vehicles in the garage, then race on track or go off-road, even open water won’t slow you down.
Jump in online with up to six players or enjoy local two-player split-screen, a rare sight these days.
LEGO 2K Drive launches onto PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 19th
After Us
Atmospheric 3D platformer After Us has a stunning visual style and a clear environmental message. Traverse a desolate, decaying world to rescue the souls of the last animals and restore life to the Ark.
Plus there are dozens and dozens of cute spirit animals that you can pet! What more can you ask for!?
I recently had the chance to go hands on with After Us and loved what I experienced in my short time with the game.
After Us releases on May 23rd for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
My preciousssss! The long awaited Gollum game by Daedalic Entertainment is releasing this month. After we’d all thought it’d gone to Mordor, especially after it’s questionable development, it’s finally seeing the light of Valinor. Follow the journey of the one ring through Gollum’s eyes in this stealth adventure game.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum releases on May 25th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
With a Nintendo Switch version set for later in the year.
Other games out this month:
-
Age of Wonders 4 – Out now
-
Bare Butt Boxing – May 4th
-
Death or Treat – May 5th
-
Darkest Dungeon II – May 9th
-
Convergence: A League Of Legends Story – May 23rd
