Video games releasing in July 2025

It’s July. We’re halfway through the year, and while we’ve had a fair few ‘game of the year’ contenders already (Go play DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH!), there’s still a smorgasbord of exciting games to come this year. Hotly anticipated titles Donkey Kong Bananza, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, and Tales of the Shire, are all set to release this month!

Here are our most anticipated games releasing in July 2025:

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 rolls out this month, and while it’s not being developed by Vicarious Visions (who were merged into Blizzard Entertainment and sent to work the Call of Duty sausage factory) at least it’s coming from Iron Galaxy, who supported in the development of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2.

The remake is promising to be an authentic recreation of the beloved classics, with additional parks, skaters and tricks. There’ll also be an expanded Create-A-Skater and Create-A-Park modes, as well as cross-platform multiplayer. Also, Jack Black is back as Officer Dick “Assume the Position!”

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 grinds onto consoles and PC on July 11th. It will also launch onto Game Pass.

Everdeep Aurora

Just one glance at Everdeep Aurora has every nostalgic bone in my body tingling. Its gorgeous pixel-art and 16-bit aesthetics make it look like a lost treasure unearthed from the vault of my childhood.

The game follows Shell the kitten, exploring the underground world of Everdeep as she solves puzzles and hunts for her missing mother. With its restricted colour palette, anthropomorphic animal characters and drill-exploration mechanic, I get a pleasant mix of Hollow Knight and SteamWorld Dig vibes.

Everdeep Aurora tunnels onto PC and Nintendo Switch on July 11th.

Donkey Kong Bananza

3D-platforming action-adventure Donkey Kong Bananza swings onto the Nintendo Switch 2, developed by the same team that made Super Mario Odyssey! The game follows DK as he teams up with a young Pauline to recover a bunch of golden bananas, stolen by the nefarious Void Company.

You smash down through various levels, passing alien landscapes hidden underground, to reach the earth’s core. Almost everything in the levels is destructible, allowing for a sandbox-like freedom of exploration and puzzle solving. With a little help from Pauline, DK can even transform into other animal forms and open up even more exploration options.

Donkey Kong Bananza smashes its way onto the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 17th.

The Drifter

The Drifter is a dark and exciting 2D adventure set in a curiously sci-fi world, with fantastic pixel-art, excellent voice acting, and a pulp-thriller narrative. Developed by Aussie studio Powerhoof, this one is shaping up to be a cult classic.

While point n’ click gameplay is at the forefront, there’s also a twin-stick control option. A demo is available on Steam now if you want a little tease of what the game has to offer.

The Drifter hits PC on July 18th, with a Switch release planned for later in the year.

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers

While souls-likes feel like a dime-a-dozen lately, the Ming Dynasty era setting and aesthetics might just be enough to keep WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers from being just another coin on the pile. You play as Wuchang, a pirate warrior afflicted with both amnesia and a curse that slowly mutates you into a feathered monster.

With various weapon types and magics to master, fast and intense combat, and spectacular boss battles, WUCHANG certainly has the potential to be tick all the boxes. Only time will tell if it can differentiate itself enough within a crowded genre.

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers launches on June 24th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It will also be available via Game Pass.

Tales of the Shire

Tales of the Shire is mere weeks away and almost all of the Quest Daily team have been hanging out for this one! The cosy life-sim puts you in the hairy feet of a hobbit in the village of Bywater, as you go about the day-to-day activities of life in The Shire; create your own halfling, decorate your hobbit-hole, tend to your vegetable patch, go fishing, cook up a feast (of course), and you can even hang out with Gandalf the wizard!

Get stuck into second breakfast when Tales of the Shire launches on July 30th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
