The Future Games Show Spring Showcase 2024 happened this morning, and while I was expecting to see plenty of trailers for awesome upcoming games, I wasn’t ready for the disturbing imagery of Zoochosis.
Here’s the trailer, but watch it at your peril, you’ll never look at giraffes the same way again:

Like, what disturbed game devs are looking at a giraffe and thinking, ‘Yeah, let’s turn this majestic, fan-favourite creature into pure nightmare fuel‘? The team at Clapperheads, I guess!
Visually the game looks great, which is part of the problem… The more realistic it is, the scarier it will be! And unfortunately the body horror doesn’t stop with the giraffes — no zoo animal is safe!
As a zookeeper on your first night shift, you must care, feed and clean up after the animals in their enclosures. Though, you’ll soon find out that something dark and sinister is afoot.

If you can unravel the mystery of the mutating mammals, you just might be able to save them… You’ll have to make hard choices as to which animals to save, and to ensure your own safety!

While I’m not usually a horror fan, this concept is intriguing enough to pull me in. We see a lot of horror games set in houses, factories, and the woods; I’ve never seen one set in a zoo before! Certainly not one filled with parasitic creatures taking over the bodies of cute animals, and transforming them into rampaging, insect-like monstrosities!!!
I think my wife will be on zoo duty for a while! Zoochosis is ‘coming soon’ to Steam.
