The Warhammer Skulls Showcase unveils new games and big updates

Every year, the Warhammer Skulls Showcase gives us a fresh look at upcoming titles in the most violent gaming universe. 2026 was no different, with a smattering of new game announcements, and new content coming to existing titles.

Read below for the new announcements, and some standout updates, including a release date for Dawn of War IV, a demo for Boltgun 2 and new collaborations with other major IPs.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch

Warhammer 40,000: Chaosgate – Deathwatch looks to be turning up the heat on the formula by adding a whole new roster of opponents. In the new trailer, we see Orks, Tau, Tyranids, Genestealer Cults, and I’ll assume a smattering of chaos to boot.

The previous game, Chaosgate – Daemonhunters, was a bit of a surprise for me. The X-Com style tactical squad gameplay makes so much sense for the setting, it’s a wonder it hadn’t been done before. Bring on Deathwatch!

Warhammer 40,000: Chaosgate – Deathwatch is listed as “Coming Soon” on Steam, though no release date was unveiled.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Deathmaster

A bit of a mystery with this one. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster is a side-scrolling 2D action platformer. The trailer is giving definite Dead Cells vibes, and the art style feels very Darkest Dungeon.

There’s only a snippet of the actual game above, but it’s intriguing. Suffice to say, I’m expecting this to be a violent romp through the underbelly of the Age of Sigmar universe.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War IV: Release date & post-launch roadmap

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is barreling towards us like a high velocity boltgun round. Fans of the first two Dawn of War titles (like me) are very excited for a return to base-building, ork-shooting tactical combat. The less said about Dawn of War III, the better.

The title finally has a release date: September 17, 2026. Alongside this, we got a look at the post-launch roadmap. Highlights include a new faction, additional campaign content and a new strategic game mode that harkens back to Dawn of War Dark Crusade and Soulstorm expansions.

September can’t come fast enough.

More? You got it: Everything else announced

Alongside the new game announcements, there was plenty for fans of existing Warhammer titles. Check out the highlights:

  • Warhammer 40,000 Speed Freeks is available today on consoles. Go live out your Orky / Twisted Metal dreams.
  • Warhammer 40,000 Dark Heresy has a beta available today. While Rogue Trader has new DLC coming on 11 June.
  • Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun 2 has a demo now on Steam. Boltgun Boom was announced as a new Mobile title, coming in 2026.
  • Upcoming Warhammer collaborations were announced for Rust and Helldivers 2. There’s also a new Skitarii class coming to Warhammer 40,000 Darktide.

With so many new updates coming to existing titles, and a few heavy-hitters creeping over the horizon – it’s a good time to be a Warhammer fan. Though typing out Warhammer 40,000 in front of every new game title is a level of bureaucracy only the imperium would love.
