Murders at Karlov Manor Invites MtG Players to Play Detective

It was Judith, Carnage Connoissuer in the … realm of Ravnica with a … lead pipe?

Proving that no crossover is too ambitious (or too left field), Wizards of the Coast (WotC) are kicking off 2024 with their latest set Murders at Karlov Manor; a Cluedo-inspired ‘whodunit’ set full of mysteries, murders, riddles and subterfuge.

Get out your magnifying glasses people — it’s time to find a murderer.

Returning to the fan favourite realm of Ravnica (this author will forever have the Forgotten Realms in his heart), the Ravnican Agency of Magicological Investigations are on the case, investigating a murderous conspiracy gripping Ravnica and its guilds.

To get players in the mood, WotC have prepared a set of puzzles for players to solve, with new content unlocking during the various pre-release and release events. Players are required to find clues printed on cards, in prerelease packs and more!

Also featured in the set are invisible ink versions of some cards, some with ‘handwritten’ details and markups, alongside some easier to find — but no less beautiful — full art land cards. These cards show off the city of Ravnica in all its planet covering glory.

Murders at Karlov Manor is the first set to introduce the new “Play Boosters”, which are replacing the Draft and Set Boosters we’d all become so familiar with. The good news is that this is a simplification of the product line (yippee!) with Play Boosters combining the fun of opening Set Boosters with the instant playability of Draft Boosters.

Ravnica: Cluedo Edition

Fully leaning into the Cluedo crossover, a Ravnica: Cluedo Edition is launching alongside the Murders at Karlov Manor set! A reimagined version of Cluedo; draw from evidence cards to determine your killer, murder weapon and scene of the crime and then grab yourself two boosters, shuffle and let the accusations fly!

But this is a Cluedo with a Magic twist: you can win by solving the mystery before your rivals – or be the latest detective standing, it’s your choice! Race to work out who committed the dastardly deed at your peril, you might find your rivals have less honorable intentions…

The good news: Murders at Karlov Manor is available now! You can pick up your products of choice at your friendly local game store, with Play Boosters starting from around $10.
