God of War Ragnarok gets new content update

Five months ago we were blessed by the gods with God of War Ragnarök on PlayStation.

Now, the biggest game of 2022 has been given a stack of little updates to keep the God of War calm and content.

New Game Plus

New Game Plus is a post-game mode that allows players to venture back into the Nine Realms, but still keep their skills and previous gear.

Kratos will also hang onto unlocked weapons, which means you’ll be able to use the Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Draupnir Spear from the beginning – in combat anyway.

Areas that require use of the spear and Sonic/Hex arrows won’t be accessible until you reach that specific story point.

And players will now have the ability to skip cutscenes – a most welcome addition for those on a war path.

New equipment and armour

In NG+, gear levels will keep their strength, and level 9 gear can be converted to ‘Plus’ to make them even stronger. Converted gear will pocket you a Gilded Coin, which can be used to purchase new enchantments from the shop.

There are a few new armour options and upgrades in Kratos’ wardrobe, including the bear cloak which features in the game’s opening cinematic, which Kratos can don from the beginning of a New Game Plus game.

Some of the new gear pieces, like Zues’ armour, can only be won by defeating extremely tough foes like Gnà in NG+.

Additionally, 13 existing armour sets can now be customised with new colour combinations.

  • Zeus Armor

  • Spartan Aspis (New Shield)

Niflheim Arena expansion

The Niflheim Arena has been upgraded, mostly with customisation options.

Players can choose to fight as either Kratos or Atreus and also pick who joins them in battle.

Atreus (with Kratos), Freya, Brok, Sindri, Angrboda, Ingrid, Thor, and Thrúd are all on the arena roster.
