In a recent panel discussion held in conjunction with the Game Developers Conference, key figures from the Diablo IV development team unveiled exciting details about the upcoming changes set to debut in Season 4.
Community director Adam Fletcher, associate game designer Charles Dunn, lead live class designer Adam Jackson, and associate game director Joe Piepiora shared insights into the upcoming itemisation changes awaiting players in the next season.

The discussion between the developers was extremely positive, their excitement palpable, and definitely passed the vibe check with fans. Players took to Reddit to discuss their excitement and hope for the changes in the upcoming season.
What will Season 4 bring to Diablo IV?
There will be changes to Affixes, item stats, the Codex of Power, and new in-game systems in both the Seasonal and Eternal Realms. Players can look forward to the following:
- Itemisation rework – fewer drops but high quality items with more of a focus on crafting and customisation of player gear.
- Affix Changes – Unused affixes will be removed.
- Gear – Sacred will only appear in World Tier 3 and Ancestral in World Tier 4, dropped legendary and unique items will be tradeable and Level 95+ enemies will only drop item level 925 gear.
- Crafting – gem system is more simplified and profitable, capped enchanting costs,
Public Testing Realm
Following the discussion, they shared additional details on the game’s first Public Test Realm (PTR). This will be the first taste of changes coming to the next Season and the team will be listening closely to feedback to make adjustments before the Season arrives for everyone.

The testing phase of new features starts on April 2nd and will run through April 9th. After that, Season of the Construct will end and Season 4 will begin on May 14th.
If you’re a console player I have sad news for you; this PTR will only be available to Battle.net users on PC. Hopefully, future PTRs will be available on other platforms.
