Crashed Servers, Record Players — Gamers Are Rallying for Battlefront 3 Like Never Before

“Star Wars Battlefront 3 when?” That question has exploded across social media as players flood back to Battlefront 2 in record numbers — and demand for a new entry reaches new heights.

The 2017 title is suddenly dominating again, breaking player count records across platforms.

On a packed train over the weekend, I overheard a group excitedly speculating about Battlefront 3 — looking forward to getting home and playing. The buzz is that loud.

Aussie Star Wars creator Bombastic is helping to lead the movement, calling fans to action.

“I want you to start writing Battlefront 3 everywhere,” he said in a recent YouTube video.

“Create enough noise and enough hype around a new Battlefront and it will clearly show developers, it will clearly show Disney, it will clearly show Lucasfilm that there is demand for this game.”

And honestly, it’s working.

I’m seeing it all over my social media feed, even on the most random, completely out of context, videos.

Even the creative director for Battlefront has taken note, taking to X with a subtle nod to fans.

Now, another former Battlefront developer, Mats Helge Holm, has responded on reddit, offering a loose plan to get things rolling for a Battlefront 3.

Battlefront 2 may have kicked off under fire — sparking a loot box fiasco in beta — but it ended up a fantastic Star Wars sandbox.

The single-player campaign gave us a badass lead in Iden Versio, not to mention that brilliant moment playing as Luke Skywalker on a Jedi artifact hunt. It was bold, cinematic, and unforgettable.

And yes, we’ve had great Star Wars games since — the Jedi series has been epic, and Star Wars Outlaws promised something fresh. But for many fans, those aren’t scratching the same itch. They want large scale battles, heroes clashing, stormtroopers flying — they want next-gen Battlefront.

Will we ever get a Battlefront 3? It feels inevitable. Star Wars is a juggernaut of a franchise, and online multiplayer shooters are still in high demand. The question is when — and whether the right team gets to make it.

Battlefront II Resurgence Day was a huge success.

The weekend marked an unofficial “Battlefront 2 Resurgence Day”, a community-driven campaign to flood the servers and make some noise. It was a huge success.

Many reported server crashes on Xbox — they’ll take it as a win.

The game has received record player counts on Steam, peaking at close to 18,000 players. And while we can’t see console player numbers, it’s trending across PlayStation and Xbox stores.

It also helped that the Celebration Edition of the game is up for a good discount on the PlayStation store.

The message is loud and clear: Gamers are ready. Let us march to the battlefront — again.
