Clemmy’s Best Indie Games Summer Showcase 2025 | Our Top Five

It was hard not to watch all four and a half hours of Clemmy’s Best Indie Games Summer Showcase 2025, mostly because there were so many little delights sprinkled throughout. I was even fooled into thinking Clemmy’s had commissioned their own animation for the event — turns out, it was actually from Let’s Build A Dungeon, a game dev simulator. (Yes, I’m using this as an excuse to sneak in another recommendation. You can wishlist it now and try the demo on Steam. No release date yet.)

But because we love you (and because not everyone has half a workday to spare), we’ve rounded up our top five games to watch from the showcase that you absolutely need to see. It was tough narrowing them down, but someone had to do it. The full showcase is linked at the end if you want to dive deeper.

I’ve been on a pixel-art kick lately after reviewing Yes, Your Grace 2, which is probably why this one stood out. Whisper Mountain Outbreak feels like a zombie survival version of Hot Brass, and devs Toge Productions describe it as “escape room meets co-op survival horror” (so I’m not far off). A demo’s available now, with a Steam release coming August 11th.

Another pixel-art pick (I promise I’m not playing favourites) that caught my eye is Goodbye Seoul. It’s a narrative puzzle platformer set in a post-apocalyptic Seoul (of course), where an asteroid is on a collision course with Earth. You play as Rion, a student racing to uncover a secret evacuation project with just six months to spare. Demo’s up now on Steam — no date for launch yet.

This one’s Paper Mario meets Scribblenauts for me. You’re Ruffy, a bear who can copy and paste textures into the environment to solve puzzles and go on a cheery little adventure. The demo’s live on Steam now, with a full release set for June 27th.

Yes, it looks like a truck driving sim — but Truckful is hiding something. Sure, you’re delivering goods to townsfolk, but there’s a mysterious forest and an underlying story waiting to unfold. Think cosy Death Stranding, but with a truck (although, let’s be honest, Death Stranding was kinda cosy too). No date yet, but it’s wishlistable on Steam.

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag? No, Katy Perry? Well, how about a piece of paper? In Origament, you play as a soul-bound letter (think Horcrux diary, but cuter) that can fold itself into various shapes — a paper plane, a boat, a ball, and more — to progress through a dreamy paper world. There’s a Steam playtest open now if you want in.

Can’t leave without shouting out a few more: Egging On (the first game I ever wrote about here!) now has a release date — August 7th. I’m also keeping tabs on:
