Whatever way you slice it, fans of medieval European videogames have been eating well lately. We’ve had the expansive simulation of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, squabbling and politics of Crusader Kings 3, and the always brutal combat of Chivalry 2.

The trailer above looks to be mostly cinematic rather than gameplay, but the Steam page gives us a bit more on what to expect. The game is said to be built around a medieval military sandbox where players start as a lowly peasant and build up to commanding armies in massive, real-time battles. Similar to titles like Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, it seems we’ll be crossing the land, recruiting soldiers, and pledging swords to lords in greater conflicts.
Unlike many other games of this ilk, which feature fictional medieval worlds, Chronicles: Medieval is set in real-world Europe. The steam page highlights the power of English longbowmen and devastating French cavalry.
Lastly, the trailer and Steam page refers to a medieval world that evolves based on the decisions you make. So you can set out for adventure, power, or play the diplomatic game. Either way, deep medieval fantasy is sure to get plenty of players in the saddle. We’ll find out more closer to launch.
Chronicles: Medieval is scheduled to hit Steam Early Access in 2026.
