As a fresh face in the Australian gaming scene, GuliKit has made a solid entrance with its KK3 Pro and MAX controllers, packing premium features and a sleek design. These controllers cater to competitive and casual gamers alike, but brings a little something extra to the table with some unique design choices and technical touches.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been hands-on with the GuliKit KK3 MAX controller and I’m happy to say it’s one of the best value third-party, customisable controllers on the market.
Out of the Box

GuliKit’s presentation of the KK3 MAX is impressive. Out of the box, the controller comes in a sturdy hard shell case — a nice surprise! When I unboxed it for the first time, my youngest daughter excitedly queried where the controller’s buttons were (they’re inside, buddy).

In addition to the KK3 MAX controller, you’ll also find a flat USB-C cable, a button kit, a tool for swapping buttons, as well as the 2.4GHz USB dongle.

The controller fits snugly into the case — provided you remove the paddles before storing it.
Build Quality and Customisable Buttons
The KK3 MAX feels solid and comfortable in hand, with a shape similar to an Xbox controller but a bit larger than the Switch Pro controller. The buttons are factory set to mirror the Nintendo Switch, but with the included tool, you can easily swap buttons to suit your preference.

GuliKit includes different sizes for certain buttons, so it’s important to pay attention. I made the mistake of switching out the ‘A’ button without realising one was shorter, which made it tricky to remove, and I ended up scratching it with the provided tool (which is pretty sharp). Just don’t say I didn’t warn you!

The controller also doesn’t include instructions for attaching the paddles — this was frustrating. After some trial and error (and a quick search on YouTube), I found out you simply push down hard until they click in. Removing them is equally simple — just pull with a bit of force. It’s straightforward once you know, but a quick guide would have been helpful.

Compatibility and Connectivity
The KK3 MAX is compatible with Windows, Switch, Android, and iOS, though it doesn’t come with dedicated PC software like some premium controllers. However, firmware updates are available on GuliKit’s website, so keeping it up to date shouldn’t be an issue. There’s also a tool to ensure your controller’s triggers and thumb sticks are aligned correctly — no stick drift.
The controller doesn’t utilise software to adjust the controller’s settings. It’s all done through the “Settings” button at the centre of the controller. Holding down this button and navigating to another button you’d like to adjust is pretty straight forward.
I’d highly recommend having a thorough read of the instructions before playing around too much. Switching sources requires a double press of the source button and a long press to select – but it can be fiddly.
Performance and Battery Life

The KK3 MAX shines in performance, with its hall effect joysticks offering smooth control and a patented “Maglev” Vibration Motor delivering solid feedback. I also loved the lighting around the joysticks — a nice little detail that makes powering on the controller feel special.
Battery life is another big win here. GuliKit claims up to 28 hours with the RGB lighting off; I’ve been using the controller consistently with lighting on and I’m well over 15 hours of usage and going strong. I’ve used it for nearly two weeks on a single charge, with plenty of power left.

As for the rear paddles, they’re a cool addition if you’re into customisable controls, but I’m not a pro gamer by any means… I personally didn’t make much use of them. They feel sturdy and easy to use, but if you’re not already a paddle enthusiast — like with any pro controller — it might take some adjusting to make them a regular part of your play.
Should I buy the GuliKit KK3 MAX?
The GuliKit KK3 MAX is a strong entry for gamers who want a quality, pro, customisable controller without breaking the bank. Whether you’re looking to get competitive or just want a controller that feels great in hand — you can’t go wrong with the GuliKit KK3 MAX. Just keep in mind that button and paddle swapping requires a little patience and care.
