Acer’s Predator Orion 7000 gaming rig is an abolute beast

I recently got hands-on with the Acer Predator Orion 7000, which compared to anything else I’ve used was an absolute supercomputer.

It features the latest graphics card, Intel Core i9 processor, it’s ultra-fast and truly looks the part — whether you’re playing games, streaming, editing 4K video or working on projects. As a primarily console gamer… I was taken aback at how capable this machine was.

Every game you play will shine on this beast. That’s if you can afford any games after you buy it…

The Orion 7000 is designed for high performance and easy upgrades. It comes with a powerful 24-core 14th Gen Intel Core i9 processor and GeForce RTX 4090 graphics. You’ll also benefit from fast DDR5 16GB 4400MHz memory — essentially meaning you can run multiple applications at a time without any issues.

Supporting DDR5 memory, the Orion 7000 ensures quick load times and seamless gameplay.

It has two special types of storage that let you load your apps quickly and easily. The M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSDs help your computer start programs fast, and the SATA3 HDD lets you store lots of files.

You can also move files between computers quickly using a special slot for a USB stick (that’s the 2.5-inch USB3.2 Gen2 Type-C hotswap drive bay).

Since this computer is designed to be upgradeable, you can easily add new parts when new technology becomes available, so your computer stays fast and powerful. This is one of the hardest things about computer tech — there’s always an upgrade.

While it’s a little loud, that’s to be expected. However, the Orion 7000 is built to stay cool — especially when you’re doing some heavy duty gaming. The Predator FrostBlade fans and a liquid cooler for the CPU, does it’s best to keep noise levels down. It’s not even close to the same noise levels as my PS4 — that was a bloody rocket ship.

I love the amount of ports on the front of the computer, it makes connecting multiple devices super simple without having to reach around the back. There’s a total of 10 USB ports on the tower, including two USB-C.

It wouldn’t be a gaming PC with some RGB lighting, and there’s plenty to go around on the Orion 7000. It can all be controlled through the Predator Sense software, which comes pre-installed on the PC.

It’s 7000 by name and by price. Don’t expect to pick up one of these rigs for cheap. Harvey Norman sells the Acer Predator Orion 7000 for $7999 (this is with 4080 GFX. It may be the 13th gen model). On the Acer website, the 14th Gen, the same one I had the opportunity to experience, is listed at just under $10,000.

If you’re shopping around for a PC that can do everything without blinking, look no further. I personally can’t see myself ever affording a PC like this without selling a kidney, but it was nice to experience it for a short time.
