Not to make anyone violently angry with gamer-rage, but what’s the likelihood that we could see mobile games show up in this weeks PlayStation Showcase?
It may sound far-fetched and not something I want taking up precious time on Thursday morning if I’m honest, but let me play devils advocate a little.
In August of last year Sony launched the PlayStation Studios Mobile Division after acquiring mobile gaming developers Savage Game Studio.
Head of PlayStation Hermen Hulst shared the news in a blog post, explaining that Savage Game Studio will operate independently to the console development teams and “…focus on innovative, on-the-go experiences based on new and existing PlayStation IP.”
We’ve already had a PlayStation IP grace our small screens this year with Ultimate Sackboy, an endless runner developed by 3rd party developer Exient.
We also know that Team Asobi, the geniuses behind Dualsense tech demo/ 3D platformer Astros Playroom, are working on a mobile game in conjunction with an external developer.
So we have a commitment from PlayStation to expand into the mobile arena and those game have to be shown somewhere right? Perhaps we get a few 30 second trailers sprinkled in between the big hitters?
