Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 Siege Mode Announced

Space Marines! Ready your bolters, charge your jump packs, and sharpen your boot knives, the endless hordes of Tyranids and Chaos are at it again! Announced on Friday at the Warhammer Skulls Showcase, Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 is getting a new game mode on June 26th.

I’ll Be Sieging You

The new Siege Mode pits squads of four co-op buddies against ever-increasing hordes of enemies. It takes place on the game’s first planet, Kadaku, where small squads of Space Marines must hold out against an endless Tyranid horde. There’s even some of the bigger enemies to contest with, like Hive Tyrants and the Bio-Titan.

Though not in the trailer, from the promo image below, we can see the forces of Chaos are also part of the new mode. It’s yet to be seen whether Tyranids and Chaos will be attacking together or separately.

Chaos! (Saber Interactive)

At the end of the trailer, we see a Dreadnaught wandering over the battlefield unloading rounds from its gatling cannon… Which raises the question, will we be able to pilot the Dreadnaught? Or will we have objectives to protect the walking behemoth?

My lore nerds out there will know that piloting a Dreadnaught isn’t as easy as stepping into one, they’re actually heavily-armoured walking-coffins for retired Space Marines. No greener pastures for these guys; the war goes on.

All About The Fashion

Alongside the Siege Mode update, will also be a selection of additional cosmetics for players, themed after famous Space Marine chapters.

I’d hate to have to keep that white armour clean on this battlefield. (Saber Interactive)

The White Scars are getting a new Champion skin for the Assault class, along with three White Scars-inspired weapon skins for the Combat Knife, Oculus Bolt Carbine and Stalker Bolt Rifle. Blood Angels fans will get access to themed armour pieces for all of the game’s five classes, as well as heraldry for customisation.

Siege mode releases on June 26th and will be a free update for all Space Marine 2 players. Additionally PC players can join the Beta from June 4th – sign up here.
