The video game gods are relentless this year, bringing down another massive month for gamers.
Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder go head to head on the 20th, with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Lords of the Fallen and Alan Wake 2 also looking to chew up all of your free time!
Here’s our list of games to play in October.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage
The latest entry to the Assassin’s Creed franchise is coming this week! Assassin’s Creed Mirage sees the player take control of a deadly assassin Basim Ibn Ishaq, a Norse god reincarnated. We first met Basim three years ago in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Set in 9th century Baghdad, the game follows the journey of Basim from street thief to master assassin.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 5th.

Detective Pikachu Returns
Our favourite caffeine-addicted electric-mouse is back! Take control of the wise-cracking Detective Pikachu and university student Tim Goodman, to solve mysteries across Ryme City.
Collect clues with the aid of other Pokémon, using their special abilities; such as x-ray vision from Luxray or Growlithe’s heightened sense of smell.
Detective Pikachu Returns is out on October 6th for the Nintendo Switch.
Lords of the Fallen
Dark fantasy action RPG, Lords of the Fallen is shaping up to be just what the plague doctor ordered, scratching that souls-like itch.
Brutal combat, grotesque enemies, punishing boss battles, a dark gothic world… It’s ticking all the boxes! Add to that, its traversal between parallel worlds of the living and dead, and it looks like we’re in for a real treat… If you’re a glutton for punishment like me anyway.
Lords of the Fallen releases on October 13th for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Wizard with a Gun
Galvanic Games has crafted an all new fantasy shooter, with RPG elements in a quirky world: Wizard with a Gun. Travel a wild and magical world, gather resources, upgrade your arsenal, and shoot your way through hours of fun.
Published by Devolver Digital, it’s almost a sure thing that it’ll be a blast. We played the demo earlier this year and can’t wait to play more.
Wizard with a Gun is coming to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 17th.
Sonic Superstars
The iconic blue blur, Sonic, is back for an all-new high-speed adventure. Featuring 2D side-scrolling gameplay reminiscent of the SEGA Genesis era of the 90s, a gorgeous 3D art style and four player co-op; it looks like modernised nostalgia at its best!
Sonic Superstars zooms into our lives on October 17th for consoles and PC.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
PlayStation’s biggest game of the year is almost here. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sees Peter Parker and Miles Morales team up to fight the likes of Kraven the Hunter and Venom. Compared to the first game, the world map has doubled in size, offering players all-new areas to explore.
We can’t wait to get our hands on the web-wings to zip around NYC faster (and more stylish) than ever!
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming to PlayStation 5 on October 20th.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Mario’s biggest 2D adventure in years is coming to Nintendo Switch this month.
Join Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Yoshi and Nabbit; and explore the wild and wacky Flower Kingdom.
During our hands-on preview, we got to see plenty of new power-ups, levels, and baddies. All will be revealed when Super Mario Bros. Wonder launches on October 20th.
