2025 has almost drawn to a close, but December still has a few gaming presents left to unwrap before we ring in the new year. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Octopath Traveler 0 headline the month, with a variety of weird and wonderful indie games to keep you busy over the holidays.
Here are our most anticipated games releasing in December 2025:
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion
Suit up and duke it out in arcade brawler, MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, a new retro beat ’em up for the modern era. Its pixel-art graphics and soundtrack radiate nostalgia, a throw back to gaming arcades and Saturday morning cartoons.
There’s 15 characters to choose from: Wolverine, Spider-Man, Storm, Rocket Raccoon, to name a few. You pick two for each level, swapping between them and combining abilities, as you kick bad-guy ass.

Tribute Games and Dotemu have got the band back together after their last collab, the fantastic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. With beat ’em ups like TMNT, Streets of Rage 4, and Absolum under their belts, Dotemu are becoming synonymous with the genre. And MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is shaping up to be another cracker.
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion launches on December 2nd for consoles and PC.
Tingus Goose
Imagine you’re a goose born from a human and you feed off the roots of the earth which evolves your DNA. Now imagine that you grow taller and taller, sickly growths developing every few metres, eventually developing in to a monstrosity all in the name of love. That’s Tingus Goose.
This messed up idle game features some of the most messed up gameplay we’ve ever come across — but the recent demo was super addictive. Once you get past the creepiness, it becomes a joy to play.
Tingus Goose is coming to PC on December 2nd. There’s also an old mobile version of the game but it’s a completely different gameplay experience.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Metroid fans have been waiting for this one for almost two decades! Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a new entry into the ‘Prime’ series that swaps side-scrolling with first-person exploration.
Jumping back into the Power Suit as bounty hunter Samus Aren, you find yourself on the mysterious planet, Viewros. You’ll go toe-to-toe with alien enemies, ride around on a dope space-motorbike, and unravel puzzles from a long-dead civilisation.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version will allow you to utilise its Joycon mouse functionality, which will come in handy for the first-person-shooting segments.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond finally drops on December 4 for Nintendo Switch 1 & 2.
Octopath Traveler 0
Octopath Traveler 0 is a reimagining of the mobile game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent; overhauling gameplay, expanding story elements, and (most importantly) removing its gacha mechanics. The game now has a single-player offline focus, with new mechanics like town building and cooking.
In a departure from past games, where each team member’s story was balanced, Octopath Traveler 0 now has you control a player-created main protagonist. You still command an 8 character party, but the rest of the spots are now filled from over 30 potential allies, which runs the risk of diluting the great story and characters that made past games great.
The JRPG still has fantastic HD-2D graphics, flashy turn-based combat, and an epic and emotional soundtrack, as in Octopath tradition.
You can start your Octopath Traveler 0 adventure on December 5th, on consoles and PC.
Skate Story
Riding through the underworld as a skater made of glass sounds treacherous — but it’s shaping up to be a visual and wild ride.
Six years in the making, and after multiple delays, Sam Eng’s Skate Story is finally releasing on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
Learn a variety of death defying skating moves, ride through the depths of hell on a seemingly impossible quest and try not to stack and shatter into a million pieces.
Skate Story is landing on December 9th.
