What a year we’ve had for video games so far, three months in and I could create a solid Top 5 already! But of course there’s plenty more to come. Heading into April we have Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, Another Crab’s Treasure, and Stellar Blade, just to name a few.
There’s also two highly anticipated Xbox games making the jump over to PlayStation; Grounded and Sea of Thieves. I hope you’re hungry!
Here are our most anticipated:
Children of the Sun
From publisher Devolver Digital, Children of the Sun is a third-person shooter with a twist… You only get one shot per stage. With a skill that let’s you bend bullets, after a kill, you can redirect your shot towards your next target. You repeat this process over and over until all enemies are eliminated with the one shot.
You take on the role of The Girl, exacting revenge against a twisted cult which destroyed her life. One by one, you’ll gun down cultists as they carry out their heinous acts.
The hyper-violent, super-stylish puzzle-shooter, from solo developer René Rother, is coming to PC on April 10th.

Grounded
Big game, tiny world. Xbox Game Studios’ Grounded is finally making its way to other consoles! You play as a kid, shrunk down to ant size and forced to survive amongst the dirt. Players can team up, build bases, explore and fight their way to making themselves big again.
Just watch out for those nightmare-inducing, eight-legged freaks! (There’s accessibility setting for the arachnophobes).

PlayStation and Nintendo Switch users can pick up Grounded on April 16th. It’s currently 20% off with a PS Plus subscription.
No Rest for the Wicked (Early Access PC)
With a striking visual style and vibrant pops of colour, No Rest for the Wicked is almost a painting come to life. You play as a Cerim, a holy warrior sworn to defeat the Pestilence, in a time of Medieval politics and sacrilegious corruption.
Developers Moon Studios are setting out to invigorate the Action Role Playing Game genre with brutal but strategic soulslike combat. Cross swords with ghastly creatures, corrupt knights and punishing bosses. It’s not all doom and gloom though, you can take a well earned break in the town of Sacrament; fishing, working the land and designing your own home.
It launches into early access for PC on April 19th, with console versions to come with the eventual full release.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU
Inspired by the grief actor Abubakar Salim experienced over the loss of his father, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is a bewitching metroidvania that follows a young shaman on his quest to reclaim his father’s spirit. After bargaining with the God of Death, Zau must travel the perilous land of Kenzera, using his cosmic powers to battle formidable beings.
The game is heavily inspired by African Bantu culture, with Salim voicing Zau himself. With precise platforming, stunning environments, flashy combat, and epic boss battles, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is shaping up to be an action-packed and emotional experience.
There’s a demo available to try now, with the full release coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC on April 24th.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
The gorgeous Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is the first game from Rabbit and Bear Studios and a spiritual successor to the Suikoden franchise. Utilising the HD2D style we’ve come to know and love, it’s easy on the eyes to say the least. Featuring gorgeous 3D backgrounds, charming pixel-art sprites and a masterful use of lighting and focus.
War looms in the land of Allraan as the Empire hunts for artifacts to increase their military power and political dominance, putting friendships and allegiances to the test. Follow the stories of three heroes and the many allies they make along the way.
With over a hundred playable characters to assemble your team with, there looks to be a LOT of variety there. Humans, beastmen, dwarves, elves… All with their own unique battle abilities, personalities, and designs. There’s also a tactical war mode, a home base that upgrades with each additional ally, a multitude of mini-games such as fishing, cooking, cards, and even this world’s version of Beyblades!
It’s set for an April 24th release across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Another Crab’s Treasure
Aggro Crab, developers of action-roguelike Going Under, are back with a new snappy adventure. Dipping their toes into the soulslike genre, Another Crab’s Treasure is set in a vibrant under-sea world filled with crabby NPCs and clawsome enemies.
The self-dubbed “Baby’s first soulslike” follows Kril the hermit crab, on a quest to reclaim his original shell. Kril will need to repurpose rubbish as new shells for protection, as he battles angry arthropods and crooked crustaceans.
You can dive into this action-packed shells-like on April 26th. It’s coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Stellar Blade
Character-action adventure Stellar Blade just dropped a demo, and thanks to PlayStation I got to test it out early. You play as Eve, a soldier sent from a human space colony to liberate earth from the monstrous Naytiba. The game features stunning cut-scenes, vicious combat, and plenty of drama! The level of violence caught me off guard… Severed limbs, bodies impaled — this isn’t a kids’ game.

The graphics and performance are top-notch, cinematics shine with movie-like camera angles and focus shifts. Combat is fast and brutal, Eve dodging nimbly around the battlefield, blocking and parrying with her badass energy sword. Regular fights felt well balanced, not too hard, not too button mashy; you’ll be doing a lot of blocking and parrying. Bosses, though, demand your full attention. A lapse in concentration can leave you quickly humbled.
The demo is short and sweet, but gives a delicious taste of what can be expected from the full release. Stellar Blade ticked all the boxes for me and I am eagerly awaiting the full release on on April 26th, exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
Sand Land
Sand Land is a new Action RPG, based on the manga of the same name, penned by the late Akira Toriyama. While not as mainstream as the Dragon Ball series, the characters reflect the mangakas legendary style, featuring an angry kid with a tail and a grumpy old mentor.

Join Beelzebub the prince of demons, as he traverses the scorching desert in search of a legendary spring, helping out a host of unique characters along the way. Featuring both character and vehicular combat, Beelzebub can summon tanks, battle bots, motorbikes, and more to aid in battle.
Sand Land is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC April 26th. There’s a demo available to try now on all platforms.
Sea of Thieves
Xbox’s flagship pirate multiplayer game is jumping ship at the end of April! Sea of Thieves originally launched on Xbox One and PC in March 2018, six years later it’s coming to PlayStation 5.
Create your own fearless pirate avatar, customise your ship, explore treasure-filled islands and fight off hordes of undead! There’s endless amounts of content to enjoy, including an entire questline revolving around Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as the classic Monkey Island series.
