Wizards of the Coast’s latest release blasts you into outer space: hopefully while you’re listening to Hans Zimmer. Edge of Eternities takes Magic the Gathering players to the Sothera system, a mix of alien worlds, strange magic, and factions ready to fight for control of the stars.
You’ll pilot glowing starships, cast cosmic spells, and if you’re lucky, get your hands on incredibly rare new foil treatment called Singularity.

Vehicles can be Commanders now?
Edge of Eternities has updated the Commander rules to let more cards lead your decks. Now, any legendary Vehicle or Spacecraft card with printed power and toughness can be a commander.
This means you can pilot powerful ships like Hearthhull, the Worldseed or Inspirit, Flagship Vessel as your deck’s general. Both are artifact creatures once fully crewed, with strong abilities that reward you for managing your creatures and artifacts.
It also means that I now have a new use for Grond from the Lord of the Rings set…

What else is new?
This set introduces an entire constellation of mechanics to match its space-fantasy theme.

Lander Tokens – A new artifact token that ramps mana. Sacrificing a Lander gets you a basic land onto the battlefield tapped.

Spacecraft & Station – artifact cards representing ships, freighters, and war cruisers. Spacecraft’s will start as artifacts and “crew up” using the activated ability Station — tapping other creatures to add charge counters. When enough counters build up, the craft can gain abilities or even become an artifact creature.

Planet – A new nonbasic land type. Planets often have Station abilities, but they don’t turn into creatures.

Warp – Lets you cast a card for an alternate “warp” cost, bringing it into play temporarily. At the end of turn it’s exiled, and you can later cast it again from exile.

Void – If a nonland permanent left play (or a card was warped) this turn, Void abilities trigger or gain extra effects.
Some fun cards to look out for!
Thanks to Wizards of the Coast, I’ve been ripping a few packs ahead of the official release. Here’s a few favourites that I’m most excited about…

Loading Zone will be a fun addition to any decks that focus on +1/+1 counters.
It’s another card to add to your deck if you’ve already got Doubling Season and Branching Evolution!
Turn one token into eight!

A fun card to add if you’re a sadist with an Aristocrats Deck. Sacrifice a creature, declare that Alpharael, Stonechosen is attacking, and bing-bang-bosh your enemy loses half their life!

Given the chance to control an opponent, what would you do?
With up to a 15 mana cost, I’m not sure how practical The Dominion Bracelet is. But for a game amongst friends, it is a card that I’d love to play — just for some fun!
A Cosmic Step for Magic
Edge of Eternities isn’t just another plane — it’s Magic looking beyond the event horizon. Whether you’re here for the new cards, the flashy foils, or just to see what Magic looks like in space, this set is the perfect adventure into the unknown.
