CAPCOM showed off Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remaster in PlayStation’s State of Play this morning. It’s up for pre-order now and launches May 23rd. But the real hype came when they dropped a brand-new gameplay trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
The trailer throws us right into the action. Miyamoto Musashi, our new protagonist, strides through a quiet village, climbs to a temple on high, and starts slicing through Genma like it’s just another Tuesday. And if he looks like a classic samurai movie star, that’s because he is – he’s modeled after the late legendary Toshiro Mifune.

Musashi brings some serious warrior swagger to the fight, showing off slick swordplay and even using his surroundings to his advantage – like punting a table straight at a Genma. But my favorite part? The little bit of comedy at the end that gives us a glimpse of Musashi’s lighter side. Even samurai need a laugh sometimes!
Onimusha: Way of the Sword can be wishlisted now on Steam and PlayStation, and is launching sometime in 2026. It’ll also be available on Xbox Series X|S.
