FromSoftware have released a chunky new gameplay trailer for their next game, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon. Along with a host of gameplay details and a launch date announcement of August 25!
After the mega-hit that was Elden Ring, all eyes are on FromSoftware, giving their next game Armored Core VI its largest audience ever.
Set on the ruined planet of Rubicon, where a volatile new energy source has been discovered, so volatile in fact that it reduced almost everything on the planet to ash in the past.
But where there is power there will be those who seek it. As a mech-wielding mercenary, you’ll be smack bang in the middle of the fight between the mega-corporations and opposing resistance groups.

As you can imagine, Armored Core is quite different from a souls game like Elden Ring, but fans of the genre can still expect the smooth, responsive controls they’ve come to love from FromSoftware.
You’ll be piloting a huge, powerful mech that not only packs a punch, but can react at lightning-fast speeds too.
The game environments will be expansive with an epic sense of scale, perfect for exploring with your Armored Core unit.
A new feature for the series is the ‘Assault Boost’ skill, which basically lets you quickly swap between long-range gun-play, and in-your-face melee combat.
There will also be a ’stagger’ system introduced to battle; when an Armored Core unit takes too much damage over a short period of time, it will overload, leaving it vulnerable to further attacks.
Unsurprisingly, the game will have plenty of challenging bosses to butt up against – like giant combat helicopters! As well as high-octane duels with other AC Units and humanoid mechs to contend with.

Your mech will be pretty customisable too, from bespoke paint jobs and upgradable parts, to the numerous slots to holster your weaponry.
Speaking of which, a pretty epic arsenal will be at your disposal, from bazookas and gatling guns to split missiles and plasma rifles.
Not to be outdone, there are plenty of melee weapons too; cluster bombs, chainsaws and pulse blades, to name a few.
With multiple endings and new pathways on subsequent play-throughs, it sounds like there will be plenty to do and see within Armored Core VI.
Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC on August 25th.
