Where there are video game showcases, there are roguelikes. The genre has become incredibly popular in recent times, with many new games now incorporating roguelike mechanics, in chase of an addictive gameplay loop.
Today we saw a slew of indie games announced and spotlighted across various games showcases: Indie Fan Fest, Quebec Games Celebration, and Convergence Games Showcase. Here’s four exciting roguelikes you should take a look at!
RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike
Anyone who’s been inside an arcade would’ve seen these coin (or chocolate!) pushing machines. Hundreds of metal tokens perched precariously on the edge, tempting you to topple the pile and claim riches and glory! RACCOIN takes that concept and shoves it into a roguelike-deckbuilder!
By dropping new coins into the machine, you trigger wild effects and dopamine-inducing combos, earning extra tickets. There’s hundreds of special coins and items to synergise together, setting off pure euphoric chaos. Multi-coins boost your score, cat coins chase rat coins, TNT coins blast other coins toward the edge!
RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike hits PC on March 31st. If you love roguelikes, coin pusher machines, or the Tipping Point TV show, give it a look. There’s a demo on Steam.
Psychofinger
PEW PEW PEW PEW! Finger guns, we’ve all done them. Whether while playing war-games as a kid in the backyard, or when hitting your boss with the ultimate brown-nosing gesture. Psychofinger combines first-person finger-gunning with roguelike mechanics, and wraps it in a delightfully ludicrous setting!
The game pits you against huge bosses and hordes of murderous anthropomorphic animals that drop their souls upon death! You can then suck up their souls and use them to upgrade your arsenal of finger-weapons for that run. It looks simple, silly, and a LOT of fun!
Psychofinger is set to release on PC sometime this year.

Froggy Hates Snow
Froggy Hates Snow is a survival roguelike about a frog that… Well, you can probably guess the rest. Froggy must venture out of his bubble of warmth, in search of resources to upgrade his home and survive. There’s an emphasis on risk vs reward. Should you push on in the snow and gather more materials? Or play it safe and return home to warm your webbed feet?
While cute, it’s hardly cosy. You’ll have to battle against both the weather AND aggressive monsters in order to survive. Though there’s also a ‘peaceful mode’ that cuts combat from the game. There’s multiple playable characters with different strengths; one can employ befriended penguins as a wintery workforce, another rocks a flamethrower that’s perfect for clearing ice from your path.
Froggy Hates Snow is set to come to PC, PlayStation and Xbox Series X|S in March. You can also hop into the demo on Steam now.
Rune Dice
Dice rolls + Suika style merging!? I’m here for it. Rune Dice stands out from the roguelike deckbuilder crowd with its novel take on the genre. In combat, you make physics-based dice rolls, hoping to merge and upgrade them with other dice, resulting in stronger attacks on enemies. Throw in magical dice effects and huge chain reactions — like dice that explode sending surrounding pieces cascading into each other — and it’s a recipe for addictive mayhem.
Rune Dice is currently set to roll onto PC this year. There’s a demo available now on Steam.
