Scale new heights in Cairn, coming to PC and consoles in 2025

A climbing simulator you say? Sign me up! Revealed in today’s Summer Game Fest by developers The Game Bakers (Furi, Haven), Cairn is about pro climber Aava attempting to climb a fictional mountain that has never been conquered before.

Players can climb any way they choose but must plan carefully or plunge to the bottom (or wherever you last put your anchor) while managing resources for survival during the journey.

Cairn you climb this mountain in this sim? (The Game Bakers)

It’s super realistic as seen by the intense leg shaking in the trailer, which I can say is extremely accurate although I’ve never climbed to the heights Aava is seen to in the game. The scenery looks amazing and is another reason I’m adding this to my list of games to play this year as it’s reminiscent of one of my favourite games, Uncharted 4.

As someone who endured Death Stranding the walking simulator because the narrative sucked me in, Cairn is already looking up (sorry) with its interesting climbing mechanics and realistic scenery.

It’ll be out in 2025 on PC and consoles, and you can wishlist it on Steam today.
