In Tales of the Shire, there’s more to do than just gardening and making jam. If you take a break from feeding Hobbits, you’ll find a series of optional side quests called Discoveries, which you get from Daisy Took, an NPC hanging out at Willow’s Farm.

Daisy has a collection of Nora’s Riddles, and she’s completely stumped. Naturally, she asks you — the new Hobbit in town — to help solve them.
1. The Eye of the Lake
“In the eye of the lake, there stands a tree, and in its roots, you’ll find what you seek.”

This one’s easy. Open your map and look for a lake with a small island in the centre, just near Cotton Farm. On the island is a lone tree. Walk up to its base and interact with the sparkling blue lights. Daisy will magically appear (as she does), and you’ll wrap up the first riddle.
2. The Water that Roars

“In the heart of the forest, it calls. Where the river doesn’t run, it falls. Where the water doesn’t babble, it roars.”

Time to head southeast — you’re looking for the big waterfall in The Forest, near the corner of the map. You’ll spot a bridge and, once again, those signature sparkles. Interact to summon Daisy and complete riddle #2.

3. The Keel in the Sand
“A wanderer with neither foot nor wheel, when its journey ends, its keel hides in the sand.”

This one’s a little trickier, and it stumped me for a while. The answer is actually right by Old Noakes’ Smial — his cosy little home by the water. Head down to the riverbank and look for an overturned boat tucked in the sand. Interact with the sparkles to finish the final riddle (for now).

That’s all of Nora’s Riddles currently in-game. Each one earns you a small reward and a bit of flavourful lore, making these a fun little detour if you’re tired of cooking coney stew. We’ll update this guide if more riddles are added — or if Daisy gets her hands on another mysterious notebook.
Tales of the Shire is out now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X.
