Video games releasing in June 2025

Happy Nintendo Switch 2 month! It’s not everyday we get a new console release, and together with its flagship title, Mario Kart World, there’s a lot of eyes on June 5th. Equally as exciting is the looming release of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and Sifu developer Sloclap dropping their brand new IP, REMATCH.

This month is also dominated by video game showcases, so expect shadow drops and other June releases to be announced in the coming weeks.

Here are our most anticipated games releasing in June 2025:

Mario Kart World

The Nintendo Switch 2’s flagship title is launching alongside the console. Open world, massive character roster, new game modes — this one is going to be massive.

Mario Kart and Nintendo Switch fans have been longing for a new mainline title since Mario Kart 8 released on the Wii U in 2014! Sure, there’s been a deluxe edition and new tracks added since, but a new standalone console title? It’s been over a decade!

Get ready to start your engines, gamers. Mario Kart World is coming to Switch 2 on June 5th.

MindsEye

MindsEye, the highly anticipated action-adventure thriller from Build A Rocket Boy, is already generating a tonne of buzz. Set in the not too distant future, you’ll play as Jacob Diaz, a former soldier, who uncovers a dark conspiracy.

The latest gameplay trailer highlights huge gameplay variety: drone and vehicle combat, fast cars — it’s even got a level designer and mission creator… But is it overly ambitious? Let’s hope it sticks the landing.

It’s hitting PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on June 11th.

FBC: Firebreak

In FBC: Firebreak, Remedy Entertainment (Alan Wake 2) is back with its signature blend of supernatural creepiness, this time tackling the squad-based, first-person shooter genre.

Set within the world of Control, the game follows Firebreak, an elite response unit as they fight to neutralise a plague of paranormal post-it notes assaulting the Federal Bureau of Control. Shit hits the fan, chaos ensues, things get shot in the face.

FBC: Firebreak releases on the 17th of June for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will also launch on Gamepass.

REMATCH

REMATCH is a new squad-based football game from developers Sloclap (SIFU). You could describe the game as Rocket League without cars… Which is a weird thing to say, but that’s essentially what it is. Instead of overseeing the whole team and switching between players, you’re only in control of one footballer.

Within the 5v5 matches, there’s a big emphasis on fast-paced action, team work, and skilled play. There’s no fouls, offsides or stoppage time… Just football. It reminds me of the manga Blue Lock in a big way!

REMATCH is out on June 19th for PlayStation, Xbox and PC. It will also launch on Gamepass.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

The sequel to 2019s post-apocalyptic postman simulator, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach puts you back in the Bridge boots of Sam Porter Bridges, a legendary delivery man. Hideo Kojima is back at it, this time promising more action, more mind-boggling story, and more Australia… The setting for a large portion of the game! There’ll be new natural disasters to contend with, like earthquakes and flooded rivers, and a day/night cycle that will affect both visibility and stealth.

Set almost a year after the events of the first games, DS2 sees Sam and friends on another mission to save humanity from extinction. After finally jumping into Death Stranding Director’s Cut last month, I’ve had a blast building roads, delivering pizzas, and wetting myself whenever a BT suddenly appears. I’m very excited for this next entry!

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launches exclusively on the PlayStation 5 on June 26th. Purchasing the ‘Digital Deluxe Edition’ will grant you access 48 hours early.

Ruffy and the Riverside

It’s Copypasta the game! In Ruffy and the Riverside, you wield the magic SWAP, to copy & paste textures, changing the world around you. Turn the ocean to ice and cross the waves, swap waterfalls into climbable vines, or switch out impassable steel crates for smashable wooden ones. Your imagination is key!

With a whimsical open-world, charming Paper Mario-like aesthetics, and brain-scratching environmental puzzles, this is one Indie I’m keeping both eyes on.

Ruffy and the Riverside releases on June 27th, for basically every current gaming platform (even Linux!)
